). Automations can be very erratic and have a very un-smooth quality to them when you use a mouse...unless you spend forever adjusting it. With the controllers nowadays you just enable write on the track and move the fader up/down as you please. Same for panning. And with the MCU you can edit plugs in any program (well, at least PT, DG, and Vegas, as far as I've used so far.), so automating plug-ins is really fucking cool with a controller.
