Well, Razor probably did because he's seen it a million times. Like myself, lol. Plus the TASCAM looks a certain way...like most other controllers, they have a unique thing here or there, or the entire thing is just unique looking. Over time, you see them on more than just a couple of occasions in magazines or online and you just kinda remember.

thanks i knew it was something you could use with pro too;s i googled the hell out of controllers for pro tools and looked at digidesign i could not find this controller for the life of me

Usually what helps better than Google, is going somewhere like www.sweetwater.com and just putting in "pro tools controller", and all the ones compatible with PT will pop up, with great detail, prices and the name (of course). MusiciansFriend's site has a lot of nice stuff these days too, they'll have some things, as well as AMS and a couple of others.

Haha, that's my hand... I've been happy with the Tascam, but it would be cooler if it allowed you to adjust plug-in parameters with the knobs on it. For some software it does, but with Pro Tools, even though you'll see the colored boxes inside the plug-ins indicating that the plug-in knows there's a controller attached...the Tascam isn't able to communicate with the plug-in. Oh well.

I mainly use our Mackie Control Universal for automation and volume adjustments. For automation, a controller owns a mouse, hands down (no slight pun intended ). Automations can be very erratic and have a very un-smooth quality to them when you use a mouse...unless you spend forever adjusting it. With the controllers nowadays you just enable write on the track and move the fader up/down as you please. Same for panning. And with the MCU you can edit plugs in any program (well, at least PT, DG, and Vegas, as far as I've used so far.), so automating plug-ins is really fucking cool with a controller.

my sentiments exactly. but for volume, automation and transport it comes in handy and increases my workflow. plug in control would be sweet though. the control 24 is really nice for using plug ins.

I've had my eye on the Control|24 even before I knew Andy used one. Those things are SWEET. I wonder if Andy ever puts it in vegas mode when there's drunk, happy clients hanging out in the studio
