What current and modern metal bands are using JCM800's?

I noticed in the CoB studio diaries, they were recording w/ 800's and have seen pictures with the gp1000 but they are the only band to get that 'heavy' so to speak with an amp designed ~30 years ago. I've always loved the classic Marshall sound, amazing lead tones.

Anyways, I plan on getting a 2203/4 sometime this year to recording the album.

i think every time i die does, they used them on gutter phenomenon, not sure if they're still using them. i Also Shadows fall used to use them, they might still but i think it's all krank.

I hate ETID with a passion.

:o

But when I used to listen to Shawdows before they switched to Krank, they had awesome guitars.

Tom in HellYeah uses one live (sounds like shit) but so did his dsl on the cd. Both guitarist in AmConsipiracy use them and sound decent. Saw live footage with Dinos new band Divine Heresey, he was using one (who knows what was plugged into it though).

When my band played with Unearth Ken was using one and surprisingly it wasn't his voodoo modded one. It was a stock 800 and it sounded pretty solid.

he used to plug his guitar into an MXR 10-band EQ pedal, and he would boost the mids. He also had a gate right after the EQ. Both of these are included in the signature amp. Even if he uses EMG pickups, he is using the MXR kind of like how alot of people use a Tubescreamer.

and your right, since the MXR pedal also has input and output faders (they are labeled something different, I don't have mine in front of me), he probably cranks the output of the EQ, but he also increased the level of the mid frequencies

it was also a modified JCM800, thats why he loved it so much...so it wasn't a stock one, which is what I think the thread-starter was looking for

I wouldn't mind getting it modified, there are a few things that could be fixed up namely more bottom end, and a less 'fizzy' distortion. Of course, I could live without the modifications too.
