What do I need to do to achieve this?

I have a sweet laptop but it's only got a 5200rpm hd in it. I want to put a really fast one in there to replace it if possible and I need to know what I need to do to copy the original hard drive exactly onto the new one.

it's an msi laptop
windows 7
can only have 1 hd in it.

What would I generally need to do to make the swap?

Acronis and the new drive in an enclosure. Clone the existing drive and physically install it. Acronis isn't free but I'm sure there free solutions around. Perhaps 7 can even do it itself?
