What does Blackguard do when not touring? (aka the thread that won't die)

But, again, you're missing the point - so what that Ensiferum didn't tour heavily OVER HERE IN THE STATES? They did their road dogging days all around EUROPE first. Just like COB did, and Sonata Arctica did, and Amon Amarth did, and so on ...

Of course Blackguard - as a band from this side of the Atlantic - chooses to play the majority of shows over here to build up their name. Just like the European bands choose their local market first. It's cheaper and easier to do that way.

I think this is great point. If BG can generate enough buzz here (does it even matter if it good or bad, people recognize the name and last time I checked that is what matters more - look at advertizing and politics for more examples), then they can use that to leverage and market themselves in Europe.

And for all the arguments that bad music fades out quickly egads why hasn't teenybopper pop died yet?!?!?! :dopey:

It's "epic doom metal" ... I guess bands such as Bathory (Hammerheart and Twilight ... albums), While Heaven Wept and perhaps a bit of Solitude Aeturnus would be the best way to describe them.

Or even better, just listen to SOLSTICE.
That is probably who AK most resemble, though I certainly agree with these comparisons as well.

However, your constant prattling about how Blackguard is "paint by numbers" and that they will fade away/break up and implying that all the work they are putting is a waste just because YOU don't like them, is pretty damn offensive considering that that they have played this stage. Did you geniuses ever stop to think of that?

Reading comprehension my friend.
I have said MANY times here that I have never even heard Blackguard.
I even said MANY times that I am generalizing by referring to Blackguard since they were the band originally mentioned in this thread.

My statements are applicable to MANY bands.

Furthermore, how do you know what I know and don't know?
Do you know that I used to have a record label?
Do you know that I have been in bands?
Do you know that I have helped book a tour for a major label band?

You act as if your personal beliefs make this a black and white issue.
It isn't.
There are always outliers to any discussion.

I even conceded yesterday, in saying that everyone is making good points.

We just are in disagreement about some of it.

Furthermore, I couldn't give two rats asses about lightening up on a band because a member posts here or if they played the festival. We aren't talking about festival appearances.

Finally, I really don't think overseas bands who were already in demand here in the states are in the same boat as Into Eternity, Mutiny Within, BG, etc, etc. Those bands being eventual headliners was practically a given, due to existing CD sales and demand, though of course their being an opener first helped broaden their exposure.

Don't get me wrong. I certainly respect a hard working band.
Their are just some implications here of what some here ultimately feel that instantly equates to which I do not agree with.

I will say it again. There are people here who just have issue with people not being in agreement with them and that's why we are on page 5 of this thread.

I do want to add one more thing......

Claus - Seriously man. You are an adult.
You are not helping your cause by insulting everyone who disagrees with you. No one who has contested your comments have referred to any of your statements as "idiotic" or "stupid", yet that is YOUR instant response.

It may make you feel like a know-it-all, or more knowledgable, but it isn't exactly earning my respect. Just being honest.

Hmmm, let's see ... you just insulted me with your "seriously man. you're an adult" - what's the difference?

Then, as far as calling people stupid, that's not the purpose - the purpose is to make them realize that they SAY stupid stuff.

It may make you feel like a know-it-all, or more knowledgable, but it isn't exactly earning my respect. Just being honest.

I don't need to earn your respect. I couldn't care less to be honest. I know when I'm right, and that's what I've been trying to tell you in this long thread.

I apparently care too much about educating you (not you Jason, but YOU in general) on how this business works, and perhaps I should just shut up and let you find out for yourself what the whole idea behind the constant touring that certain bands are doing is ...

The difference is that most here are attempting to be civil with the discussion and the majority of your responses have been anything but.......

Calling someONE or "what they say" as "stupid" doesn't help in getting your point across. Many will dismiss it immediately.

I am sure you don't care if you have my respect.
I do think you make some valid points, but I still feel you are taking many things too personally, as someone who manages bands.

On the flipside, just consider that many of us who are in disagreement about this situation are fans who purchase CDs and concert tickets.

'Tis all I am saying...........

Glenn, can u just ban Jasonic and Diabolik so we can avoid these threads? Powerfest did, come on join the club. Although it did occupy almost an hour of my time.

I find myself being very civil in this discussion. I'm telling you how things are as a fact, and when you don't listen but instead respond with stupid comments, then I'll tell you that.

I do think you make some valid points, but I still feel you are taking many things too personally, as someone who manages bands.

1) what does taking things personal have to do with managing bands?
2) I am not taking any of this personal at all - this whole thread is a discussion where I'm right and you're wrong, why would I take that personal?

On the flipside, just consider that many of us who are in disagreement about this situation are fans who purchase CDs and concert tickets.

Sure, and so am I - a fan who purchases CDs and concert tickets.

Ian, seriously dude!?!? Both Jasonic and Diabolik can come off a bit harsh sometimes, but they're always providing some really interesting and useful input. No offense dude, but their posts and comments here are more interesting and worthwhile reading than anything I've seen you post in a long time. Jasonic is an armchair quarterback, yes, but at the same time, he contributes tremendously to the forum imo.

Powerfest also went in a stupid direction with their lineup. Are you gonna say ProgPower should do the same and join the club?

thanks. I wont even go into a tirade or steer this thread off into one of my crazy rants. I know I post things that make people angry. This is a discussion forum....isnt that what we all read this for. While I dont agree with most of Claus's post on this thread....I do respect him for what he does and some of his post on other threads. Even though lots of us dont agree on lots of things....we are all fans of the music and will always battle to the end on our views on things. To try and say we need to be banned since we question and offer opinions is crazy.

also..all that matters is that there are a small few who know the truth behind what really happened on the Powerfest forum. Notice one thing...after we got banned....that forum pretty much died since we were the only onlyes offering new topics in threads / discussing upcoming shows / discussing Powerfest.

Aw, it's not so bad! Since I'm the only girl, I get to be the pivot point of our band orgy.

And sometimes they let me eat!

haha, let me know when you are back from 8 weeks straight on the road. ;) then we will see how much fun it is on a $3 taco bell stipend. hahaha, but seriously if you are hitting the road be safe and remember no show is worth dying for. if the driver is tired, pull over and get some sleep.

too many stupid band deaths/wrecks on the road this year already.

Ha! I've done worse! I went to college.

:puke:

It was more in jest than anything even if I dont really care for either of them
