What does Blackguard do when not touring? (aka the thread that won't die)

Didn't Sonata Arctica actually headline first in the States before opening?

I recall seeing them in Chicago for Reckoning Night, as a headliner, where it was practically sold out. Later on they toured opening for Nightwish, and then later DragonForce.

I think before the first headline tour, they were scheduled to tour opening for NW, but it got canceled.

Right, but if you drink too often you'll ruin the taste of it, and you might start hating on the beer ...
I have not run into that problem. :err:

Glenn, can u just ban Jasonic and Diabolik so we can avoid these threads? Powerfest did, come on join the club. Although it did occupy almost an hour of my time.
Geez, all the hate on The Biffle. Am I the only one who thought he was totally kidding? Was I wrong? I did, foolishly, read most of this thread, in between actually trying to work.

I think you missed my point completely.

I know you love Rhapsody. But then again, with the amount of young people who have recently gotten into the music in our "scene" (by that I mean the last 5 years or so), who think Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Firewind and Dragonforce are the pioneers, and the biggest names there has ever been in Power Metal, I can't help but feel the need to point out who came first and that there was actually *so much more (and better) bands* before them.

No no, I get your point. I know they came first. The difference is that all those young kids who preferred Dragonforce did so either because Dragonforce was really fast and exciting at the time, or, because I'll be honest.. Rhapsody's narrator was really f'ing lame. And had I not been a total dweebazoid at the time, he would have turned me off to the whole band.

None of the bands I like are "pioneers". You know why I got into Hammerfall? Because they had the same name as a town in World of Warcraft. I ADMIT IT.

The first time Sonata played the States, they were opening for Overkill on a few dates. I don't recall if that was before the NW tour cancellation or after (think after). It seems the band tried to get a few shows in the country so they could "try it out."

They did have a headlining tour. I opened for them! It was amazing and magical. I nearly raped Tony Kakko, but his sad little hound-dog eyes.. they melted my black horny heart.

Don't care enough about the guy to hate him.
This dates back a couple years ago when he began ass kissing Rob from Powerfest, and ultimately jumped on the "Jasonic is a meanie.. BAN HIM!" bandwagon.

Cool, yeah, I remember they did have a couple gigs prior to that headlining tour, maybe one at JAXX???

Yes, Rhapsody's narration was absolutely dreadful. It wasn't "so bad it's good" or part of their charm. It was a major flaw. I still have much love for those first few albums though.

DoD, please tell me that as your interest in power metal grew you eventually went back and picked up Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys parts 1-2?

Good God! A band couldn't ask for a better thread! Well over one hundred posts that refer to Blackguard!

How about- "What does Artizan do when not touring?"
The answer........wish we were BLACKGUARD!! Bwaahahaa!

Good for these guys. And, their drummer , who happens to be a chick, is fucking phenomenal! I watched her from the VIP area this last ProgPower....much respect.

...and now back to not touring...

Step 1: Mention Blackguard.
Step 2: Argue over whether or not they tour too much. Back up your argument with relevant info.
Step 3: ?????
Step 4: EPIC THREAD
(optional Step 5: discuss which power metal vocalists one would like to violate the most.)

I have one of the mugs, too! And I might be buying a shirt of theirs on Saturday. BECAUSE THEY LOOK COOL. :loco:

Akumu I feel you need a direct mention of underwear in those steps, otherwise it doesn't do Duchess the proper respect ;) she earned from the other thread Tom Jones

I'll be honest.. Rhapsody's narrator was really f'ing lame.

Lol. However I have to admit, the scary narrator at the start of "Erian's Mystical Rhymes ~The White Dragon's Order~" is pretty epic. That entire song is pretty epic!

Speaking of World of Warcraft, I never thought a PPUSA thread could contain more drama than a WoW realm forum!!

On a completely different note (since I believe we can change topics after page 3...), when I first started listening to metal 6 years ago, all my power metal knowledge came from those Limb Music inserts in all those cheesy power metal band CDs. I remember buying the first Olympos Mons album because it had a cool album cover. :headbang:

I know a couple of "meanies" I met at the Strato/PM show in Addison...
I thought they were ok dudes.....:kickass:

Lol those old limb inserts.... Hahaha I remember buying The Armada back in the day and thinking it was the shit!!! Lol

Haha! I'm currently working on a Helloween collection. :headbang: When I first discovered Rhapsody and all those other guys, I painstakingly collected all of their CDs.. Helloween is next!

I was actually just curious. Have you ever checked out Angra? I mean, both old and new Angra?

Not that I am a fan of the band and would try to get you converted, mind you... :saint:

Angra is amazing....nothing can top this first 3 or 4 CD's...they kind have gotten dull as of late but those first bunch are classics.

See, what would have happened if you were banned as Biffle wanted?

Angra *is* amazing. They're one of the very few bands that can actually place 3 albums in the Top 15 Power Metal albums in history. Angels Cry, Holy Land and Temple of Shadows are nothing short of masterpieces.
