so far:
when i was suggested emporer/borknagar/dimmu borgir/etc by other friends i was far more open to it due to it being mentioned by fellow opeth listeners from this board.

but Thales are the main find solely from this board.

I would have to say none..... I did start a thread once asking people for band suggestions, but my quest wasn't too fruitful. What can I tell you, I grew up surrounded by metal heads so I found out about all the main players from them. The rest I discovered on my own. You know compilation tapes, tribute CDs, etc...
