What impulse(s) are your favs

Whatever fits for the song. I just leave a song looped, go through different impulses and pick the one that fits in the best without any EQ or anything done, and then tweak on from there. I do notice a tencency to pick one of the "Marshall 1960A T75 SM57" impulses, but I have no idea who did them. There's 29 impluses in the pack, and the first 5 are named:

20060722 - 033 57 10_00.wav
20060722 - 033 57 45_00.wav
20060722 - 033 57 _1_00.wav
20060722 - 033 57 _2_04.wav
20060722 - 033 57 _3_00.wav

Then there's files like:

20060722 - 033 57B 10_00.wav
20060722 - 033 _0 45 1_00.wav
20060722 - 033 _0 on axis loud_01.wav
20060722 - 033 _0 off axis 3_01.wav

"Final" and "Final2" impulses are doing the job for me right now!
Pretty sick. I wonder what amp was used to make them

I've spent 2 days trying out the whole batch that I have but I don't really like any of them as an alternative to mic'ing a real cab. They all sound very static and boring, with most being muddy and fizzy, some being downright harsh, some sound phasey, some boomy. It doesn't help that I'm attempting to coax a good tone out of a Bugera 6260 with them, but I'd really have hoped for some quicker gratification all the same.

The only option I can see is quad-tracking, using 2 sets of impulses to hide each others' flaws.

this has been my problem with impulses on guitars since i have found them, figured i could get a decent usable tone but after fiddling around i always gave up and reverted back to micing a real cab ,

i have found tons of use for them tracking di's for reamping though but never for a project yet......

Same here, but right now, i can't turn anything up, so i use them like a POD or whatever to SHRED THE RIFFZ quietly.
The impulses can't capture or emulate tube distortion and that's where the magic happens.
