Hi folks,

i've decided to quit going digital and going back using a real head for my demo-recordings. What i am not capable of doing is to record using a cab with a maxed out amp here in my home studio. So i'm recording using a loadbox and fire up the amps's lineout signal using IR. I did a quick test with six free IR's and was wondering which sound you guys do prefer?

The signal chain is always the same, only IR is changing:

Ibanez RGA 121 Prestige -> DI-Split -> Amp -> Loadbox Line Out -> Audio Interface -> DAW -> IR -> EQ high pass at around 150

I'll reveal the used cab and mic after a while (so far i have the information and crator of IR), for now i'm curious what you guys think sounds best?

Thanks,
FLo

In addition, here are three more sound clips, using the superb Impulses of Mr. Redline4, to find at http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/backline/947395-best-impulses-since-s-preshigh-theyre-free.html

To my taste, kaomao's "5150" and Redline4's "telos-RVSaphIR" sound best.

Cheers

thanks schwinginbatman, glad you like our stuff!

nezvers, i can not exactly remember which amp's out this particular example was, but most likely a Engl Blackmore(?)…
Cool you're focusing on the attack of the muted 16th, since this is what is most important to me. (you know with a sinbreed record of 50 minutes you have LOTS of 16th :headbang:)

But i can tell you, what's more important (of what i learned) then the amp is (besides accurate playing) the right Pickup, right Tubescreamer and the right cab. It's a Seymour Duncan SH-10 on the tracks above and this little fucker really is the Humbucker to go for distorted sharp 16th.

--> anxious what the other guys choose as best sounding IR above

I'm living now in digital realm and was thinking that it's simulations that can't deliver sharp attack. If you are saying that SH-10 is responsible, than I have to check that closer.
