Well, it's all personal preference, but like I said, you can find a good Charvel Model 6 that'll smoke any Ibanez for about $450. They're neck thru, made just like the USA SL1 back in 88-89 and are a hell of a deal.
The Kramer Baretta at MusicYo are great neck-thru guitars at under $300, but you'll want to replace the pickups and get a professional setup. And it would be better than an Ibanez, IMO.
Personally, I'd buy a used USA Jackson, BC Rich, or Carvin... In that order.
Just keep an eye out on ebay.
