Got their debut a few days ago.. Fucking brilliant record.

I recommended it to all fans of black metal, especially those who are into what is currently happening in the French Scene. Has moments that are reminiscent of Deathspell Omega's 'Kénôse', very classy and well done orchestrated sections, and some nice proggy moments. In the first song, the first guitar part you hear is actually identical to to beginning of A Fair Judgement's outro!

Very impressive release in my books.

daath - the hinderers

What is this? I saw it in the shop today and nearly thought of grabbing it just as an impulse buy, but then saw they were with RR and used å as their a's and decided they were homos. Unless they're from Finland.

Type o negative - Dead Again

Not sure about this one, im a big type o fan but this is a completely different album and complete u turn in their music. If anything its back to the days of slow deep and hard (their debut), hardcore punk style. Flashes of the brilliance i expect from them, but some of it doesn't really hit the spot. The beatles influences are no longer subtle and are more of a direct rip-off now. Josh Silver is a bit under-utilized due to the punk passages of play.

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet

Sounds amazing after one listen and recognise the songs from last years gig.

Machine Head - The Backening

A much more mature effort and put a great deal more thought into this album, the riffing is a little more creative than their previous efforts. But nothing really stands out after the first few tracks and the album blends into one. Saying that this is their master of puppets has set them up for a massive fall long term i think. Perhaps i need to give it more time, but after listening to porc tree album i doubt that is going to happen. I hear killswitch engage esque passages quite a lot on this album.
