What should I use for bass?

I'm on the verge of recording my music and I'm undecided on how I will record bass. The options I have are:

1. PODxt
2. AxeFX
3. a VST amp sim (ampeg svx, etc); never used one though, how are they?

What do you guys think I should try to work with? I'm by no means a bassist and I rarely bother trying to make the bass in my mixes sound any good, so I'm not sure what to go with.

If you have the bass pack for the POD Xt then the Marshall superbass sim is awesome imo.

Though you will get much more flexibility by recording a clean DI into your DAW and using amp sims. My favourites are Sansamp PSA-1 and POD Farm. Not a big fan of SVX myself.
You can get good bass sounds just by using compression, eq and splitting the bass into a clean low and distorted mid/high track.
