What the fuck is going on with the GT tone here. How can I come up with a similar horrible tone? Need a nasty tone for a tune I'm working on. He won't answer me because he hates me. (childish grudge from about 8-10 years ago or something )

Revalver?

Dam I suck at da tones.

Revalver or such, but WITHOUT cabinet IR? Sounds like the old days when we recorded amps direct, without any kind of cabinet simulation.

kinda oldschool industrial sound a la nine inch nails? I think a cheapo amp with distortion pedal (fuzz/od/distortion? I dunno, try it out) and maximum amount of gain/drive/distortion should do the trick. Try to google up how trent did it with broken

Thanks for the response. Interesting, with out cab hmm. What settings should I be aiming for? I really suck at picking out frequency.

Thanks again.

I'm not much help to you there. I struggle with EQ so much these days, especially in the upper mids area (maybe because my tinitus has gotten worse?). Curve EQ on guitars has really saved me a few times lately.

And like Ahjteam said, a cheapo amp with distortion pedal...or even just a distortion pedal run directly into the DAW. You'll have to tame some of those nasties, but I'd think it will get you close.

I googled NIN Broken and it seems he used (Trent) a Marshall JMP-1 straight to desk through a Zoom 9030 cab sim. Not an option for me.

Right on. Thanks.

Well the bass sounds quite minimoogy, which makes me wonder if all that digital distortion could be again a minimoog used for the guitars? Or it almost sounds like a vst guitar. I didn't notice any palm mutes.

Back in the day, he did use a orange Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal for synth bass lines. Sounds like he still does. Hell, so did I.
There is a guitar in there tho. In some of the blurry pics, I think I see a recto of some sort through a Marshall cab. That is, live.

I have a hard time believing this is a real bass. :P It sounds like a square lead or some polysynth or something. And I think in the other songs there are guitars but not in Johny Dethwish.

Oh it's not a real bass thats for sure. They have no such member. I do hear a lot of guitar in JD. Did you listen to the whole thing?

I love chicks with a ball in their tongue.
Makes a blow job so much more meaningful.

As for the guitar tone - I am too dumb to be able to you out.
I just wanted to talk about the chick.
