Before i got my Dual Rec i had a shitty line 6 flextone head (gotta start somewhere) and when my band wrote a song we'd record a quick demo so our singer could write vocals. We used to plug the line 6's direct out straight into pro tools and it sounded exactly like that...fucking terrible haha. Something like that will definitely do the trick.

You can try linking two distortion boxes together, like 2 ds-1s, or a ds-1 and a metal zone, or pretty much whatever. Just try running a heavily distorted signal through a distortion box, hehe.
