What the **** happened here?

Yeah, I came in here this morning and found that the whole lay out was different. Well I'm open to new designs but I also found that my avatar and all others as well were missing. On top of that I also had to register again before I could post. I don't see why all the fuzz? Is there some significant detail I'm missing out on?
