My first rock/metal album was probably Metallica. That was so long ago I can't remember.

Ahh, I remember all 3 now.

First was Korn-Life Is Peachy I picked up because people said they were "cool."

Right after I heard Stinkfist on the radio, and bought Tool-ænima which is the first band I heard that I actually liked on my own without anyone having to tell me they were good.

Third was Nine Inch Nails-Pretty Hate Machine which I gave listen to because this older girl I wanted to finger bang at the time listened to them so I gave them a listen, and actually ended up really loving the music, and never talked to that girl again.

Korn imo is the only embarrassing one, and the other two I still listen to, and are still among my favorite bands.

So you see it began well...
I was on my way to becoming a respectable mainstream listener of rock music.
Then a buddy brought Ride the Lightning to school and everything changed...

You must have wondered then whether music - and maybe life in general - was worth the effort
