Ok, as another year comes to a close, I need to ask.

What were your discoveries this year?

This can either be in the form of newer bands, or even older bands you have discovered / checked out for the first time.

Here are some of mine, though I am sure I will miss some the first time around:

There is no doubt that you make more CD purchases of newer bands than anyone I know! I haven't even heard of most of those.

Pagan's Mind is probably my biggest "discovery" or "epiphany" I guess.
Really developed an ear for Firewind this year which previously I couldn't get into.
Have started to find enjoyment in harsh vocals with the help of bands like Arch Enemy, Scar Symmetry, Raintime, and Into Eternity.

Epica (more of a "wow, they're better than I remembered" discovery)

I don't have many others, because I am now in a less experimental phase, and sticking with what I know.

This is a band I need to revisit again.
I got their first full length a few years ago, and it didn't quite click.
That was when I was first getting into some of the bigger death/doom bands.
I wonder if they would click with me more now.
