In your opinion and for teh sake of this discussion...lets include....teh death growls/grunts and screams adn all that stuff....waht woudl be considered the hardest form of singing......ive always wondered how these black metal guys can do thier screams for entire shows without spitting blood.....that to me requires alot of vocal strenght/stamina....on the the other hand Im also very impressed by the amazing range required for some opera or even power metal pieces/songs..........discuss....!!!!.....I do also believe what is easier for one may not be really easy for the otehrs...so its rather a subjective discuission...but lets get some ideas flowing.......PEAC EOUT

King Diamond... or maybe the terrible stuff from Nefarious of Macabre or maybe Rhapsody(of Fire)'s singer. Dunno. Demonaz from Immortal had that evil popeye sound on some of the Immortal records.

I tired to sing blind guardian style and i ended up sounding like a retarded 10 year old :(....i fail.

metal style singing : i dunno how the guys in the bands like mastodon or isis can do those screams without losing their voice, same goes for chuck shuldiner on sounds of perseverance (the screech)

demanding : (surprise surprise) opera , although some may disagree, i find some mars volta songs near impossible to sing ( fucking 5 octave range that singer has)

I wouldn't really compare Mars Volta's singing to Opera, and also I think that guy uses alot of falsetto, but still I think that singer is pretty good

So, I think it's pretty well established that opera (Opeth?) is the hardest form of singing, but which is more difficult: a male singing female-range opera or a female singing male-range opera?

I don't know that much about Opera, but I am pretty sure that a grown male is not capable of reaching the highest notes of a female, unless he a castrati of course, haha

I have heard a lot female singers who have really deep voices though, like that chick from Thor's Hammer
