They're all great lyrics, but if I had to choose.
"For if I am consumed with my own cares
What right have I to speak the words
'Thy Kingdom Come'?
And if I am consumed with my own will,
What right to pray
'Thy Will be done'?"

(From the track THEOCRACY)

A very profound statement...... I see this sort of thing every day. In the street, at work, and sadly even in the ministry sometimes. In every workplace you're sure to find at least one brown-noser or "YES" man who kisses the butt of the boss in hopes of getting that promotion, or the church goer who makes a production out of giving larger sums to the collection plate than everyone else as if they can buy salvation. Or my FREAKIN' KEYBOARD PLAYER who's knowledge of biblical matters is "vastly superior" to everyone elses because he's studdied the bible in Hebrew and all other translations are "wrong". :erk: The translation IMHO is hardly significant compared to the meaning behind those Words in any language. I could go on and on. There are examples of this in varying degrees all around.
Very poetic expression of a common lifestyle. Bravo

Hmm, I don't really have a favorite 'one lyric' per se, but I think the strongest are in the song Twist of Fate.

The whole song has great meaning and lyrics, and it's a song you can relate too and see the internal struggle. And the way the song climaxes is simply incredible with the lyrics and music with the final line being "for yes I do believe".

When I first heard the debut album, Mountain was my favorite song - but after some time Twist of Fate took that title.

As a whole song, Twist of Fate has my favorite lyrics, but The Serpent's Kiss Has some really good lines sunch as:

"Have we become so cold and numb,
we're blind to its destruction?"

"Paralyzed by the venom that runs through our veins
There's got to be much more to life than this
The world's caress is just the serpent's kiss."

and

"We're the ones who betray You,
yet we're the ones whom You adore."

Sorry for a late reply. I had bought the album some months ago but only this week I got to listen to it more intensely, several times in a row on a long drive in my car. I have to say the lyrics blew me down - when I sat in my hotel room in the evening I had to read them all and they are oh so true! Lyricwise alone this CD is so miles and miles ahead of other christian albums, just wow.
So what do I want to say with all that? I don't have a real favorite so far, I like all of those songs and will probably have to go on chewing on the lyrics for quite some while because I see myself in every other verse. Thanks, Matt!

My favorite lines would have to be out of "The Healing Hand."

"See the hand that drives the nail
Through the hand that never failed."

It's even on my desktop :D

Yep, I made up my mind and have to agree to the last suggestion. I just love the progressing concept in "The Healing Hand". The Holy Hand becomes the Healing Hand becomes the Bleeding Hand becomes the Ruling Hand - it's awesome!
"Sinner" also spoke to me very intensely, though!
