Rainbow - 'Weiss Heim'
Scorpions - 'Coast To Coast'
Nazareth - 'Vikki'

Crystal Ann indeed does rock.
My favouritte would be Vision Divine - Chapter XI - Fool's Garden.
Others that comes to mind are Sepultura - Kiowas and Pink Floyd - Is there anybody Out There?

That's not an instrumental, and 'One Of These Days' it's almost an instrumental.

The point is how much can we define an instrumental 0% vocals, 10% vocals?

I go for 0% and pick for PF best instrumentals: 'Atom Heart Mother', Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast, and 'Cluster One'

Also check: 'Any Color You Like', 'Obscured By Clouds', When You're In, 'Mudmen', 'Absolutely Curtains', 'Signs Of Life', 'Round And Around', 'Terminal Frost', and 'Marooned'

Depending on the mood :

Death - Voice of the Soul
Wolf Hoffmann - Hall of the Mountain King
Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence
Joe Satriani - Crying
Cacophony - Speed Metal Symphony
In Flames - Dialogue with the Stars
Gary Moore - The Loner
Mercyful Fate - To One Far Away

Metallica - The Call of Ktulu (easily the best song on Ride the Lightning and Metallica's finest instrumental song)
Raven - The Bottom Line (from their Atlantic record Stay Hard, killer metal with powerful horns, kick ass !)
Mama's Boys - The Professor, part two (great guitar playing by the elder McManus !)
Yngwie Malmsteen - Icarus' Dream Suite op. 4 (Yngwie's finest imho)

old stuff ! :D

Iron Maiden- Transylvania
Death- Cosmic Sea
Darkthrone- Accumulation Of Generalization
Liquid Tension Experiment- Acid Rain

Since everyone is posting more than one favorite I'll add one to my favorites:

Riot - Narita

If you don't know it, check it out!

I would say a song from Vai's Passion and Warfare, but I don't know wich one to pick...Same goes for Satriani and old Malmsteen stuff. Also like "Niagara" from Silvermountain alot, and more recent some Liquid Tension Experiment stuff....

I'll go for the obvious choice for me 'For The Love Of God'

and more recent some Liquid Tension Experiment stuff....

One of my favorite instrumental bands, I'll pick 'Paradigm Shift' or 'Acid Rain' without even blinking.

having almost completely forgotten about Call Of Ktulu, I went back and had a listen. It's truly an amazing song, but is the beginning fingerstyle???? I'm pretty sure it is, and that would boost my respect for pre-black album metallica a bunch.

You dont see that technique in many metal. I love fingerstyle playing, but music from that genre just sounds like SHIT :yuk: I wish there was more of it in metal.

Black Sabbath - Supertzar

Does that count? Anyway, it's awesome.

that indeed counts and it's a really great choice :worship:

as for my fav instrumentals i forgot your choice but also "Losfer Words" from Maiden's Powerslave

now, you're all missing out on one song.....I know nobody outside of our little clique in my town has heard it, seeing as it's one of our band's originals, but it's awesome IMO, once we get a decent recording, I might have to post it or something....
btw, it's Patricide - Euphobia :headbang:

Not exactly heavy or long but I like Kaiowas by Sepultura.

Yeah 'Kaiowas' is a very neat tune from a time when Sepultura (which I never dug) went already baaaaad.
