What's your interpretation of the concept of Ocean Machine's Biomech?

Kushantaiidan

SPASIBA AX.
I'd definately say there is a story in that album. Travelling through songs like Life, Night and Hide nowhere...

And then onto Voices In the Fan...

It seems like he has died. And greetings could be about the afterlife.. and funeral... and from then on.. I'm lost.. lol...

What do you guys think? Do you see any story?

the message is...... there is no message.. =>

seems to me he is just aproaching issues, questioning life,death...etc.. and creating music u can snap your fingers and bob your head to.. ..heh.

Funeral was written about the one his performance on Sex & Religion was dedicated to if memory serves but later on during terria he said he had never really lost anyone before. Go figure

I would NOT wish Infinity on anyone. It took me months to get into that because it's such a hideous bitch. Yeah, musically it's swell but on a deeper level... no. That is not something I wish on anyone involved.

That's one of the reason why I like most of Devin's music - you have to put something in before you can appreciate it. Even Punky Bruster...
Oh come on... you just need a sense of humour and some exposure to pop culture for Punky. That one, I got the feeling of the moment I heard Fake Punk on a compilation. It's not like how Bad Devil was released prior to Infinity and in no way got me ready for the finished product

I think Funeral is about a progression from one distinct life outlook to another. I mean when a change is forced upon you through self education or experience it can be quite a traumatic yet uplifiting event, which is the impression I get from the music too. Funeral is the best song on OM.

Hey Kush,

I haven't posted for a while, but I like this Townsend forum idea. I think I needed a break from the Opeth F for a while...plus I tend to hibernate with things when I have assignments & exams...But the good news is I am nearly finished for this semester. Thursday and I am done!
And Thanks for those YES albums! Fragile rocks my world.

What is news? I will probably be going to Ballarat at some stage in next three weeks or so. If you and Andrew are 'round I reckon we should organise s'thing. Or if you are c'ming to Melbourne?

Yeah, I have noticed this on more than one occasion and I have stopped taking what he said literally.

Get MSN and we will organise something.

Congrats on getting through the semester. And I'm glad you like the yes albums.. Check out their latest album. It is the best since Going For The One!!

With the unified concept of O.M. idea... I'm reasonably sure it was "another collection of songs that sounded good together". Of course, that was said in an interview. He's always had a thing for playing around with those. It's better now but in the old days... oh my.
The material on the album is also from different periods as well which could affect a narrative flow. Some songs conceptions predate his days in Vai if memory serves. You've pretty much heard every demo he'll release but believe me... there are more.
