When cover-versions are done right!

I usually like covers that sound nothing like the originals. Some of my favorites :

Mercenary - Music Non Stop (pop singer unknown of me and I'm too lazy to search his/her name on google right now :loco: )
Evergrey - I'm Sorry (same as above, I don't know the original artist)
Gamma Ray - Heavy Metal Mania (Holocaust, much better than the original IMO)
Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar ;)
Angra - Kashmyr (Led Zeppelin, different arrangements)
Sanctuary - White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane)
Scanner - Innuendo (Queen)
Sepultura - Orgasmatron (Motorhead)
Death - Painkiller (Judas Priest)
Killers - L'Aigle Noir (Barbara, a french singer of the 60's/70's, maybe the most surprising metal cover I've ever heard)
Judas Priest - Green Manalishi (Fleetwood Mac)
Judas Priest - Diamonds and Rust (Joan Baez)
Witchery - Restless and Wild (Accept)
Anthrax - Antisocial (Trust)
Manowar - Nessun Dorma (Puccini, Eric Adams is the man here)
Saxon - In the Court of the Crimson King (King Crimson, very cool heavy version of the KC classic)
Heaven's Gate - Always Look at the Bright Side of Life (from the Monthys Python, love that one!)
Vicious Rumors - Paint it Black (Rolling Stones, furious cover)
Rage - Paint in Black (Rolling Stones, just perfect!)
Hammerfall - Man on the Silver Mountain (Rainbow)
Angel Dust - Temple of the King (Rainbow)
Slayer - I Hate You (Verbal Abuse)
Deliverance - Sanctuary (?)
The Traceelords - Born to Be Alive (ahahah :D)

Damn how could I forgot that one? :headbang:

Queensryche's Scarborough Fair ain't bad. Nevermore's Sound of Silence gives me the creeps. Not in a good way. Icarus Witch's Roses on White Lace is pretty good. Uhhhm, that's all I got other than what's already been *covered*. :loco:

Anal Cunt - Unbelievable (the hit song, I don't know the original artist, not even sure if this is meant to be a cover :) )

Jesus Jones is the only "Unbelievable" that comes to mind.

I also fell in love with DC Coopers "Easy Livin"

Anal Cunt did that cover and the band that did that song was called Emf.
(hides behind wall as well for knowing that useless bit of information)
I have to applaud Children Of Bodom for making Andrew W K sound so good
and Graveworm for doing I'ts A Sin that's kooky as well. I like Crowbar
doing LZ "No Quarter" and Pantera doing Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan"
Siebenburgen-Animal Fuck Like A Beast from WASP on Delictum.
Enthroned doing a impaled nazerene cover in which the song name now eludes me.
Dark Funeral-Dead Skin Mask and Sodom's Remember The Fallen covering that on Teach Your Kids
To Worship Satan
Enochian Crescent covering 13 Candles from Bathory
Type O Negative for doing a britney spears cover it's friggin hilairous and their version of Hey Joe (Hey Pete) is funny as hell too.

i rarely listen to covers...so the only ones that come to mind are

Tad Morose- Losing More Than You`ve Ever Had (accept)
Brainstorm- Amarillo (i have no clue)
Iced Earth- The Trooper (iron maiden)

Ha ha ha I love Tad Morose (well maybe a little bit) and typically hate to be negative, but I thought they slaughtered that song. Good taste on the other ones though brother.

Doro - 'Egypt (the chains are on)' (Dio)
Angel Dust - 'Temple Of The King' (Rainbow)

Those two were awesome Brother Vern !!!

Vanden Plas is very good with their covers. I also dig Dimmu Borgir's "Metal Heart" though I am not a fan of the band much at all. They did justice to that song despite the death vocals.

Bryant

Demons & Wizards-Immigrant Song
Iced Earth-Hollowed Be Thy Name
Cradle Of Filth-Hollwed Be Thy Name
Dimmu Borgir-Burn In Hell
Iced Earth-Screaming For Vengence
Iron Maiden-The Zoo
HammerFall-Detroit Rock City
Grave Digger-Schools Out For Summer

You don't have to be ashamed Kitty, that's probably the best Uriah Heep cover ever. :worship:
Angel Dust did an interesting modern (and very different) version of this classic on an UH tribute disc that also feature a beautiful rendition of "Weep in Silence" by Lana Lane.

I bought the D.C.Cooper album just because the guy who sold it to me put 'Easy Livin' and I immediately purchase it

I got the LL tune on her "Covers Collection" album and it's indeed a beautiful song.

I just heard Thunderstone's version of "Wasted Years" and it's not too bad. Kitty, that should bump 'em up a notch for you. :D
