Which AMPEG cab for a monster bass tone ?

I'm thinking of buying a great bass cab for studio use and love the Ampeg tone. I mostly record metal of course and I love distorded but growling bass sounds.
The Ampeg SVT 410 HLF (4x10") is very tempting but I wonder if it's enough for studio use. 6x10" or 8x10" look very good but they're damn expensive !

Any experience with that ?

8x10 for the classic tone, and you can push it hard even with gtr heads. get one and you're set in that department.

in any case, do not buy the recent Vietnam-based production, but look for an used USA-made one in good condictions...

Ehum, a 4x10 is more than enough for studio use. Put a mike close up and you'll get all the bass you'll ever need.
