What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse
You know, since my Grammaw died and I don't see TV once a week any longer, AND I have now blocked myself from going to Yahoo, my references to pop culture are at an all time low. I'm happier this way, honestly. However, I was very, very confused on New Year's Eve watching all those things about stuff that happened in 2013. I didn't know any of the celebrities really, so no murderous rage from me. What a shame!

Wouldn't claim expertise but have listened to hip hop for over 20 years and own over 100 albums. Kanye West, like much of popular music embodies over-produced, remarkably uninteresting approaches to the craft. He knows what sells, but it has zero passion.

Thing is, I don't like to follow the news at all. Im already stuck in my beliefs, I dont need to turn on Rush every morn foo a ra-ra speech to keep my leanings in check. I hate faggos, negars, illegals, tofu munchers, DeafHeaven, etcetera. Nothing's going to change, so why bother depressing oneself by listening to the world's tragedies and follies? I deal with enough micro politics at my shit job, no need to broaden it to a global scale.

I know he's a producer. He's the reason so many other artists sound so bland. Sure he invests emotion in his music, but not for a second does it sound authentic. Let me rephrase: he lacks soul. The biggest argument I hear is his creativity with beats, but that's only in comparison to what we else is lurking in the radio-friendly top ten at the moment. Call me out all you want, he's no musical genius and his music is the culinary equivalent of adding tobasco sauce to hamburger helper.

"Sounds authentic" is complete subjectivity, with little room for argument. I'll agree to disagree, but it's just ig'nant to say he's not creative. He's never made the same album twice (check out his latest for pure what-the-fuckery). Love him or hate him, you can't say he's stagnant/lazy/radio-friendly. Hell, 808s And Heartbreak is one of the WORST ALBUMS EVER. But at least he pushed himself to make something new and different, as awful as the results were. I mean... have you ever really listened to MBDTF? If that ain’t "real" hip-hop, then I respectfully resign from the game.
