our drummer want to buy himself a e-drum kit for the following purposes:
1. rehearsal at home via headphones/without pc
2. preproduction recordings via midi

which one to get? do both of them have several midi channels for recording toms, snare, kick, cymbals all at once on a different track?
is it possible to play double bass with those pedals?

This drum will probably do the job, but I´m afraid that these are plastic heads instead of mesh heads. It won´t make a difference on the tone, as it will be all midi-to-sampler, but the feeling is very different. The best e-drums out there are probably Roland but Yamaha released a very good new line this year. I think it worth the extra bucks even for resell values matters.
About your questions:
yes, you can use a double pedal on it.
yes, the midi will be sent as separate notes. You can probably edit which midi note each pad will trigger on the module but, even if you can´t, all you need to do is create a drum map on nuendo to translate the notes on real time. I did it to use Steven Slate Drums with my e-kit (Roland HD1).

I'm gonna say no to the fame because that module looks EXACTLY like the one that came with the POS one that I bought here (just slightly different colors) and it didn't trigger midi for shit (actually the first one was broken and the second just confirmed that it's a joke).

Do the DMpro.
