Which is the best wood for guitar bodies? (for metal tones, specifically)

I like alder, maple, basswood and mahogany.

The Quality of the wood is SOOO much more importants than the type!
I have an alder bodied guitar with a thin bolt on neck and a floyd that has more punch and sustain than a paula....
different types of wood certainly have their characteristics, but as I said, QUALITY of the wood and how well the guitar is built are MUCH more important

have 2 guitars with the same wood, but they sound totaly different.
One is a cheap as ibanez the other is the ibanez 7" signature guitar (slipknot I think)
