yeah like cliff burton compared to dio.
“On the twenty-eighth day of November
Outside of the town of Macroom
The Brits in their big Crossley tenders
Went hurtling away to their doom
For the lads of the Column were waiting
With hand grenades primed on the spot
And the Irish Republican Army
Made shit of the whole fucking lot"

and thats from the 1920s, beat that :tickled:

thunderbolts pfft

I like the scottish one. I dont know how manly it is but it sounds shit hot when theres 1000's of men in kilts pissed and singing it for a team that rarely ever wins. bless them.

Flower of scotland?? the welsh are the bestest national anthem singers ever, they put everyone else to shame

that reminds me, there was these scottish twats on a train once pissed and singing nothing but crap so my mate told them shut up if they didnt know any good songs. the scottish guy got all shirty and said he'd sing him any song he could name, so my mate said: do your national anthem...god save the queen :tickled:

hmm, i never looked at the words, how cool is that. the saxon foe, who could that be then? :D

these are all a bit anemic and PC. god bless violent national anthems that explicitly express the desire to kill people from nearby countries

Soldiers are we,
whose lives are pledged to Ireland
Some have come from a land beyond the wave,
Some to be free,
no more our ancient sireland
Shall shelter the despot or the slave;
tonight we man the Bearna Baoghal
In Erin's cause.
come woe or weal;
'Mid cannon's roar and rifle's peal
We'll chant a soldier's song.

We'll sing a song, a soldier's song
With cheering, rousing chorus
As round our blazing fires we thong,
The starry heavens o'er us;
Impatient for the coming fight,
And as we await the mornings light
here in the silence of the night
We'll sing a soldier's song

CHORUS

In valley green or towering crag
Our fathers fought before us,
And conquered 'neath the same old flag
That's floating o'er us,
We're children of a fighting race
That never yet has known disgrace,
And as we march the foe to face,
We'll sing a soldier's song

CHORUS

Sons of the Gael! Men of the Pale!
The Long watched day is breaking;
The serried ranks of Innisfail
Shall set the tyrant quaking.
Our camp fires now are burning low;
See in the east a silvery glow,
Out yonder waits the saxon foe,
So sing a soldier's song.

"A lovely land is ours
orig. lyrics by Adam Oehlenschläger

translated from the Danish by
Peter Ravn Rasmussen

A lovely land is ours
With beeches green about her
Encircled by the sea
Her hills and vales are manifold
Her name, of old, is Denmark
And she is Freya's home

In days of long-ago
This land was home to heroes
From war they rested here
Then forth they went, to smite the foe
Now to their graves they've gone
Among the barrow-stones

This land is yet so fair
Her waters yet so blue
And green are still her leaves
And noble ladies, maidens fair,
And men and able lads
Still dwell on Danish soil

Hail Sovereign, hail Home!
Hail every Dane who labours
To do his very best
Our ancient Denmark shall abide,
While yet the waves reflect
The beeches in their blue"

Second verse rocks now that I think about it
