I've been wanting to get another softsynth and was wondering which one I should get. I want it to be versatile and be able to do soundtrack stuff, trance, dubstep and industrial. I was thinking Zebra 2. I always hear great stuff about it. Either that or NI Komplete 9. Of course that is 500 bucks opposed to 200 for Zebra 2. Maybe even Omnisphere. I can't decide. Which would you get?

I think it highly depends on your approach to it. For creative and or quick work in terms of writing a synth/electronic piece, I prefer to use both Spectrasonics Omnisphere and Stylus RMX for rhythms. Omnisphere brings many usefull presets to start from, the Stylus has some great extensions. For an even quicker approach, you could also check Heavyocity Evolve (which is samplebased though), at least concerning industrial and similar stuff. If you're into building this unique sound you imagine, it's a whole other story of course.

I'm interested in getting omnisphere as well, but mainly for creating sountracks (don't know the correct word^^). I also want to use the synth for the synth/ambient/string layers on my metal songs. Oh, and i don't want to tweak oscillators^^ Do you think it's suited for that purpose?

Zebra2 is awesome they have a smaller free one that's worth having around too called the Zebralette, might be worth taking a look into the waves 'element' synth too, i bought it recently on a whim when it was on sale, turns out to be very impressive, it has some great flavors, definitely worth a demo anyway,

Omni would be the best choice for ambient/soundtrack stuff, but since many patches hog up a lot of frequencies, it can be challenging to fit in a dense mix.
Komplete 9 is good for decent-to-very good versions of most other needs, particularly since there's a lot of synths to pick from and you can get interesting and inexpensive Kontakt addons (Hollow Sun, Hideaway Studios).

That said, I have both, but I also have Zebra 2 on the short list.
