which "Xeon"???

Help me out guys...I'm getting a new mac since PT9 didn't cost $2500 like i thought i would cost.

Im going to get an 8-core machine, but which "Xeon" is recommended for DAWs/Audio:

• Woodcrest
• Clovertown
• Nehalem
• Westmere

also...
2.66GHz or 3.0GHz??

I believe the Nehalem 3.0 GHz would the best choice. The Nehalem features newer architecture than the Woodcrest or Clovertown and I think the Westmere is targeted more towards servers rather than desktops. I may be wrong though.

Westmere runs better under heavy processing. Its a server architecture.

You want Gulftown or Westmere, really more important than clock speed is cache size. Get as much cache as you can afford, more cache = less read's to main memory = faster perf. IO is expensive.
