That's a remarkable list if they indeed have that, let alone a tenth of that. I'm not sure if you can prepare yourself for Islay malts without diving in. Any listed there are representative. Of course, these aren't for everyone right away, in which case you'd do fine with a Highland.

agreed. that's amazing. i'd love to hit that bar up ... especially from what ive heard in terms of costs to drink in the US.

actually read an article in the paper today about Ardberg's "Supernova" which apparently is one of the peatiest, most complex whisky's going around. i'm interested in picking it up, but its $200 a bottle!

so this bar not too far from where I live has its scotch listing posted online. what do you guys think I should start off with?

That's the best decked out whiskey bar this side of... Singapore. No, really.

I drunkenly decided a very old (35 years? 40?) whiskey was the way to go when I was there. Then paid for the drinks for half dozen other guys I was with. Singapore is not a cheap place to go drinking, and this was not a cheap bar in Singapore. On the bright side, I was let off buying any more drinks for the night, and the whiskey I had was damn tasty

I'm a HUGE single malt fan.

Currently have a bottle of Ardbeg 10, Laphraoig Quarter Cask, and Talisker Distiller's Edition 1996...all exquisite.

My absolute favorite is Talisker 18, followed by Ardbeg 10, Lagavulin 16, and the Laphraoig QC (which I just bought this weekend and is absolutely divine).

I'm a big fan of the peat monsters, obviously.

To me, Glenlivet is garbage.
