Who else hates those silent tracks after 20 minutes of silence?

Silence is golden

I wish my parents would be silent

Well i wish the TV that constantly watch would shut up, i hate sitting here with stupid tv blasting in my ears. Aahhhh

hm..

yeah i hate it when theres a bonus track so u have to fast forward it all the time as its good sometimes, then i realised i can tape it to mini disk, but its still stupid, i have to say the worst case is, MY DYING BRIDE, after listening to the first song, theres 6 minutes of fog horn, and then it goes to track 2, i can understand if it was the last track, but its stupid to skip it all the time. i listen to the fog horn bit sometimes if i can bothered, but i always think why bother on the first track?

Try listening to Politics of Ecstasy while you're going to sleep. You're just about asleep after the last track, then 5 minutes later, some god-awful noise for about 5 seconds. Damn, I hate that. I edit that shit out when I rip the CDs, so I don't have to hear it.

i love the PoE thing...the thing on forever is boring...

I dont mind the silent tracks so much as long as they are at the end of the cd. However when Korn's Follow the Leader came out I bought (I know it sucks) it and got into the truck expecting to hear something. But no, just 12 silent tracks to start the record off. What fuckin idiots!

You're right, man. There's a great extra track at the end of Anathema's A Fine Day to Exit, but you have to fast forward past about 10 minutes of silence and some drunk guys talking.

Some pressings of Kamelot's Karma album contain seven mintes of silence on the last track and then...nothing. Even worse is Shadow Gallery's First Light, listed on the back of the CD as being thirty-four minutes. It's actually 22, it then goes into six minutes of silence, then the same boring hidden track with the guy knocking at the door that appeared on another album! Bastards.

yeah, those piss me off when used distastefully. like what demonspell said with shadow gallery (even though i hate them!!). i thought that there was going to be a super-progressive 30 minute song!! ...only found a shitty song that's mostly silence and preaching.

however, MDB's "the dreadful hours" the track "return to the beuatiful" it has that part where it gets real quiet around 10 mnutes and its just white noise for a while. then Aaron Stainthorpe comes in and says "who are you who lies dying right beside the river" and then it dives into that fast death metal part.

the first time i listened to that song i was sleeping and i woke up during the quiet part. i forgot i had headphones on and was wondering what that noise was. then i nearly pissed my pants when somone said something to me and some loud riff came out of nowhere and started thrashing my ears  i think that's an instance where silence is used well.

I know a lot of people aren't into them, but I thought Fates Warning did a pretty good job of implementing a pause section at the end of "A Pleasant Shade of Grey"... The last song is nice, quiet and soothing and then the song ends... By this time you're nice and relaxed... Perhaps half-asleep... (Or completely asleep if you don't like FW, lol!) I 10 seconds later a clock alarm goes off and keeps going off for another 10 or so seconds... heh heh...

Ok, so maybe that's not all that cool afterall... lol!

Not a big fan of silent tracks. Usually comes off as self indulgent fluff. Say what you gotta say up front.

I remember when I was younger, I had Chaos A.D. up real loud upstairs in my bedroom and was playing Sega downstairs. The CD finishes, so I thought...when 15 minutes later, I hear this god awful screaming and laughing and hollering coming from my room. I shat myself. I don't think I remember being as scared as I was that day...I was stoned as well...I thought some fuckers had broken in and where fucking with me.

Anyone who's heard Chaos A.D. fifteen minutes after the last song knows what I'm talking about.

fuck u Max :)

You're talking about The Cry Of Mankind by MDB (great track IMO) and that fog horn stuff is just part of the song, whether you like it or not...
