Who else owns the original pressing of Orchid?

yeah the early orchid cd looks like a cd-r , i have the original morningrise euro pressing, when i first got it i thought it was a bootleg or some shit with the funny printed cd, and especially the crude back inlay haha. then i investigated and found it was the original.

When I bought Orchid, I really thought the guy from the cd shop ripped me off with some copy. In the middle of the cd, however (on the silver side) there is some small printing that sais "candle010cd". This made me not attack the guy from this small shop.

Umm... No. It would be silly of me to say I've been a fan of Opeth before they released their first album, since I didn't even live close to Stockholm at the time. :loco:

I wasnt specifically targetting anyone here, but it is true. Everyone is like "omg, ive been a fan of them since blah album." Its them trying to sound like a more worthy fan than the rest. I just hate that.

*nod* I understand what you're saying. Myself, I do NOT think I'm a "more worthy fan" than anyone else. However, judguing from what I've read on the board, I do think I have a different perspective of the band than many people that started listening to Opeth after Morningrise. It's neither better nor worse, just different.

Its actually more beneficial to be a new fan and be able to buy the back catalogue instead af having to wait so long for new releases. It sucks when your already such a dedicated fan

Hehe. That's true in a sense. :) I know I've had that experience with lots of bands. But there's also a certain charm of seing how a band evolves album for album.

True, but im young and impatient and dont like to wait long periods of time. I have seen a few bands evolve from good to bad or bad to good, and it is cool to see how it is, but I definitely like having "too much music" than not enough to satisfy my urges.

I've never had "not enough" music... how is that possible? there is so much out there i can't imagine ever actually running out of new things to hear.

Youve never had a band obsession stage and just wished that thewy had so much more new stuff that you have never heard? For example, I got into an Iced Earth craze a while back, and since I was pretty well versed with all of their stuff, I was just craving that they would release a new album. If I wasnt well versed in all of their stuff, I could just go back-catalogue and start listening to an older album. I have done this when I got into Devin Townsend's music a number of years ago, and it was great to have an overabundance of new music.

Everyone goes through these kinds of obsession stages, where they are just engrossed with a certain band for like a month. for example, my last one was Unearth. I saw them at SOTU and always hated hardcore/metalcore. I hated them at SOTU, and thought all metalcore was crap. I hated the whiny teenage screaming bullshit and all the breakdowns. But one day I was curious about what Unearth really sounded like on album and why people like them (you know, some metalheads except Unearth and regard them as really talented. This got me interested cvause I thought they were just metalcore crap). So I download The Oncoming Storm and give it a play. At first I liked the music. It is really good gothenburg riffing, talented musicians. Once the singer came on I was like NO WAY!!!111! But I kept listening to it, because the music was really good. Then the breakdowns came. "They take away from the music" I said. But after like a week, I started to love it. I wernt out and bought the cd and listened to nothing but that cd for like 2 weeks. I dont know why, but this cd satisfied my enough so that I didnt have to dig deeper into their past. I will eventually pick it up, because I found a great new band that I was very close-minded about before. I now know why people listen to metalcore/hardcore, and have a new view on it. This tought me not to be close minded about musical trends, and that their are some quality music in what the trendy 15 year olds are listening to. Unearth are some amazing musicians with great songwriting skills. They write some kickass heavy music (not heavy metal cause its not). You would never see me at a hardcore show punching the air and doing kickboxing in the middle of the pit though, im all metalhead

to be honest, no, i've not really gone through that. Of course i've been obsessed with bands, but i've never really felt empty waiting for a new album from them. Most of the time i'm trying to find new and exciting styles of music, and that's what keeps me the most obsessed.

Maybe your currently in an Opeth craze? I am always looking for new music, but their are those bands you find and love and become obsessed with for a while. Your favorite bands at the time are longer obsessions. I have a few favorite bands right now (as does everyone), but the list may change in the future.

Maybe, but i haven't listened to Opeth since the week Ghost Reveries came out. I have been doing my best to track everything down by a band called Birchville Cat Motel lately, so i guess that is my obsession. But there's always other things going on on the side for when that "runs out".

i have the original american

i made a thead about it... like 9 months ago talking about how the CD is fucked up. In forest of october there is this wierd and annoying buzzing/cracking sound that is quite loud and distracting. This is the only version of the album with this defect.
