Yeah I'm not much of a Kiss fan myself, in fact they are guff, and about the Rush patch, well I have another Rush patch on the other sleeve of my jacket, plus 2 on the back plus I've four Rush badges on the front of my jacket. I used to have about 8 Rush badges but each time I go see a band I come home with one less badge. Still I need to go and buy some more Rush badges, 4 is nowhere near enough!!! How can you no like them Nic, they are incredible.

Love Priest.
Love UFO...Force It is my fav, Strangers in the Night is one of the best live albums and guitar albums ever recorded.
Like Maiden a lot...
Love Rainbow with Dio...Rising is another classic...way ahead of its time.
I saw all the others like Saxon and Raven back in the day...but they never stuck with me like the bands above.
Yes I love UFO, they are one of my favourite bands. Saw them first time at Reading Festival when they headlined on the Friday or Sat night. They were absolutely brillinat and I saw them twice again at Glasgow Apollo, Girl supported them at one of the concerts, they were quite good as well. WAs supposed to be seeing them last year at some Rock & Blues but they cancelled and I'm sure they're playing there this year, so I might head on down.
I never was much of a Priest fan but I went and bought AOR cos I was seeing them with The Scorps last year and I'm not joking it totally blew me away it was that superb. And I have to say Priest were incredible live and although I wasn't much of a fan, my pal was and I'd heard most of the songs before the concert anyway - every song was just mindblowing and even the 2 crappy naff songs, Living After Midnight and Breaking the Law, even they sounded pretty damn good at the concert.
Really like Rainbow as well, Rainbow Rising is indeed a masterpiece. Maiden - well out of all the NWOBHM bands, they were never really one of my favourites. I only ever saw them the once at the Reading Festival but they must have been pretty poor that day cos I can barely remember their performance. I don't even remember Eddie running onto the stage and my pals do. I like them a lot more these days and I know they are touring later this year, so I would love to go see them again and actually remember the concert this time. If they play Glasgow that would be brilliant but I don't think I'd travel to England to see them.
Out of all the NWOBHM bands, my top 6 would have to be Diamond Head, Angel Witch, Saxon, Blitzkrieg, Girlschool and Praying Mantis. DH probably my alltime fav cos that was the first NWOBHM band I saw and I couldn't believe my eyes when I was in the Bungalow one night and saw a wee poster saying that DH were playing there next week. It was mostly wee local bands that played there and at that time no-one reasonably big had played there before. I'm sure it was only 50p to get into see them and there was only about 40 metalheads there to watch DH put on a sensational performance. Bloody hell I can still remember as clear as day that Sean Harris belting out Sucking My Love, it was fookin awesome, and that still is my fav DH song. Seen DH about 6 times, missed them twice last year cos once I was on holiday and the other time I didn't know it was them who were supporting Megadeth and by the time I realised who the support was, the gig had sold out, so was pretty gutted. I would loved to have seen them but I would have left before Megadeth came on!!!
Saxon I've seen about 6 times and are sounding even better these days than they ever did, they always were excellent but I saw them last year in Glasgow and they took the roof off, they were that magnificent. Saw them just a few months through in Edinburgh and again they were awesome. And their latest album Lionheart is brilliant, I was well impressed. Girlschool I've seen about 5 times as well, and I know they're not the best band on the planet or anthing but I've always had a soft spot for them. Just saw them a few montsh back supporting Motorhead and they were mighty. They too sound even better than they did in the 80s but the only thing wrong with the cncert was that they didn't play my fav song Nothing to Lose and they didn't come on at the end with Motorhead and do the St. Valentine's Day Massacre songs, which I always thought they did when they teamed up the Motorhead. Just when you were talking about Raven, another of my fav concerts was when I saw Girlschool at Glasgow Apollo with Raven as support and at the end of the concert both bands came on and played about 4 songs together. It was brilliant and very unexpected and cos it was the last night of the tour during the last song the roadies came running on stage with custard/cream pies and started throwing them at both bands and everyone ended up getting splattered in cream. It was a scream.
Another ace concert was again with Girlschool when I went through to Edinburgh and saw Girlschool, Tank and Angel Witch on the same bill. Absolutely totally out of this world, I'm huge Angel Witch fan anyway, seen them 3 times and that was my first time seeing Tank and they were fantastic as well. Praying Mantis I've always loved, although they were more like melodic rock never really that heavy - seen them at least 4 times - best time was when I saw them and the Tygers of Pan Tang at a students uni in Glasgow, that was a terrific night.
I was lucky in that the Bungalow just down the road from me had loads of bands playing there and I saw loads of NWOBHM bands at the Apollo, various other venues in Glasgow and uni's and I used to travel about the country seeing them as well. It was the most awesome time ever, with the best music, loved every minute of it and saw some crackin bands and the great thing is that there are still a few of them out of the road right now, so I'm getting to see them all again, which is mindblwoing.
Just off the top of my head these are some of the NWOBHM bands that I've seen - Saxon, Girlschool, Blitzkreig, Praying Mantis, Diamond Head, Angel Witch, Vardis, Tank, Samson, Witchfynde, Witchfinder General, Dedringer, Fist, Girl, Heavy Petting, More, Lionheart, Dark Star, Raven, Red Alert, Chasar, Chevy, Tygers of Pan Tang. Saw loads more but that's all I can remember right now.
