@soulburner: i considered sticking some polls, but there's at least a dozen that recur every so often, and that would just crowd the first page... as for adding links in the rules thread, your intuition is right: ppl who's already read that post won't check it again.
i ought to suggest to mark to add small "new" banners, or a page for forum-specific announcements...
