Who is the nicest musician you ever met at..

Andy Kuntz - Vanden Plas. Super nice dude, can't wait to have them back
Rob Doherty - Into Eternity. Always glad to talk to a fan, even when tired, stressed and sick.
Jukka Nevalainen - Nightwish. Super friendly, very funny and down-to-earth guy.

Those would be my top three for now, though there definitely could be some honorable mentions.

At PPIII - Devin Townsend and Ryan Vanpoederooyen (Devin Townsend Band)

Overall - Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity), Cristina Scabbia and Cristiano Migliore (Lacuna Coil), and Byron Stroud and Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad).

- Annie

Hands Down Joey Vera from Saint and Fates and Anthrax. Made him a Pot of Chilli and he still remembers that chili to this day. By the way he'd be a great special guest at the show this year.

Jon Oliva....multiple times...I have meet many people in the music industry whom I had admired only to have them turn out to be or act like total jerks. Jon Oliva was humble, honest, heartfelt and sincere and gained even more of my respect!

Mountain King also gets my vote. I had met him many times before, but at PP last year, I went upstairs at the Pre-Party because the bar in the club was swamped!! Saw Jon standing there ALONE, and I remembered on the old Savatage message board someone asked him what was the best way to approach him?? He said, "Hey, Jon, can I buy you a drink??"!! So I did and we talked for over an hour. Jon is all the things Azreal said, plus he is undoubtedly the funniest person I have ever met.

Cool thread.

Well, considering I've not met that many, I'll name mine anyway. All of the Edguys impressed me last year! Going through the autograph line, they acted like they wanted to be there! They seemed to be good, down to earth guys, that like to goof off!

Luca and Alex from Rhapsody were very nice to me and Fatesfan this past June in Winston-Salem, NC. Eventhough, there's a big language barrier, they were very cool to us!

I have to agree with AMBR Jukka Nevalainen is the greatest, and so is Marco Heitala of NIGHTWISH. Met them in Scottsdale Arizona last Aug and my daughter and i spent many hours with them and the band, they made us feel like we were long lost friends, and we got backstage passes and just had a blast with them. We still stay in touch by e-mail with Jukka, he by far is the greatest you will ever meet.

Last year, definitely Rob and the Into Eternity guys. Rob stood out because he was so down to earth, polite and funny as hell. Also the Adagio guys... Gus and I ended up singing back and forth to each other from the venue to the hotel. Frank was a bit shocked to meet a chick into Star Wars, so we had some very cool conversations as well. For the amount of talent and skill in that group, they seemed to be actually humbled by the accolades they were receiving. Very, very cool. Smiley from Prymary, and the rest of his clan... Very cool people to be around :)

But... hands down, my top two would have to be Ray Alder and DC Cooper. It's next to impossible to accurately describe how awesome these two personalities are.

Jamie Mazur of Exhibition (ex- Eternity-X)

:err: when was Jamie at ProgPower? I somehow missed him! And Exhibition is about my favorite ProgPower band. dammit! :erk:

as far as folks I've met that were cool as hell...

all the guys from Steel Prophet - they were stoked to be last minute replacements when Vanden Blah bailed.
D.C. Cooper for being gracious and spending the time to give my now defunct webzine an interview.
Jon Oliva - it was great to simply be in his presence in the autograph line last year. I thanked him for the years of great music and he thanked me right back.
Urban Breed and all of Tad Morose - just too cool and I truly hope to see them back someday.
Wuthering Heights - they were another underrated band who were stoked to be here, and were thankful of the fans and gracious with autographs and pics.
Jon Schaffer has always been generous with his time and thankful of the fans. I met him at Dragon*Con '97 after following the band for six years. And he remembered me when I met him at PPUSA3. Too Cool.

too many others to list. Everyone I've ever met at ProgPower has always been happy to meet fans, sign autographs, and take pics. That's the great thing about this setting - the atmosphere.

Absolutely, positively, Mark Briody from JAG PANZER is the coolest musician I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He recognizes me whenever I'm lucky enough to see J.P. live and still asks me how the house hunting is going. No "rock star" attitude at all. The rest of the band is also very cool, too, but Mark is the best. JAG PANZER for PP7!
