I am saying who sucks to me not to you.. I guess I have to repeat myself or put it in my signature that whatever i say is just my opinion and not Law... Me too! The stuff he did on the last record was a real jaw dropper for me!!!
As for Jason I'm still convinced that he's underrated and a "victim" of being caught between James and Lars. He might not shine like Cliff did but he's always given 110%. And that's what I respect him for and how he earned credit from me. The reason why you would hardly miss him on the Justice album is because his bass lines were tuned so far down that they're almost not audible anymore. Not his fault and an often criticized flaw of this record.
BTW can't remember who brought it up but I was also there when Slayer put out SOH and I can remember very well that there were many disappointed voices about the album at first because the boys slowed it all down. Just because most fans consider it a classic today does not mean they did at the time of it's release.

Eric Carr is a good example of a forever "new guy". Wasn't he in KISS longer than Peter (originaly) but he was mainly thought of as just being Peter's replacement. A much better drummer than Peter though.

Well it was someone else who brought up the SOH thing but it was me who said I grew up in that era when it came out... I guess in Germany it was different reaction because i swear I never heard one bad reaction to that album in my neighborhood or NY for that matter... I heard nothing but praise for that one and Seasons in the Abyss.... I respect Slayer more then i ever respected Metallica though.. play slow or play fast Slayer has always remained Heavy and true to their fans i would say.. that includes also for whatever drummer they may have at the time..

Yeah i'm already familiar or had owned at one time the albums you recommended.. I saw Sacred Reich live years ago opening up for Pantera in NYC.. great show and both great bands... for Pantera you might want to try out Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven (they do a great cover of Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan on this one)... as for Nuclear Assault ... i guess they are a acquired taste but I have always liked them.. i saw them live a few times in the late 80's and they were great live... if you want to give NA another chance I would highly recommend their Survive album.. very good songs particularly the song Brainwashed plus they also do a very good cover of Led Zeppelins Good times, Bad Times... Yeah i know 1916 isn't from the 80's but i had heard very good reviews about it from the Regs on this forum as well as for the album Rock n Roll... I'm not sure if you saw that particular thread back then about Motorhead albums.. Destruction and Sodom I have never been familiar with though i know who they are from reading magazines back in the 80's... but I'll look for those albums you recommended.. Destruction has a new one.. have you heard it yet and/or recommend it? .. as for Sepultura.. would you include ARise and Chaos A.D. in that list as well? ...

1. I do know Vulgar Display and also their Sab cover because they made a video for it. VDOP is an okay record for me but nothing I get excited about. Maybe one day I can trade it for something I don't want to have anymore. But until that happens I'm fine with my CD-R copy.
2. The only Nuclear Assault CD I've ever bought and heard is Game Over/The Plague. I can't point at what it is exactly that I don't like about the band but I just couldn't get into them so far. Maybe I'll give it another spin now but I doubt it will leave me anything else than indifferent.
3. 1916 got shiploads of good reviews and deservedly so if you ask me. It's pretty rock'n'roll-ish even for a Motörhead album. If you're not familiar with the 90s Motörhead then I'd also recommend Bastards. I like that one even more.
4. Yes, I've heard the latest Destruction album. I know all of their albums except for the "Neo-Destruction" stuff ('94-'98). Sorry if I misunderstood you but I thought you wanted to have just recommendations for 80s albums. That's why I excluded the 90s from all the mentioned bands. As for Metal Discharge I would recommend it, yes. It's a strong record but it took me a while to get into it. Eventually it grew on me and I think you'd like it as well. But when talking about the new stuff I'd go for The Antichrist first. It's the catchier one and also with the better production. In case of 90s Sodom I'd check out Code Red and M-16.
5. About 90s Sepultura: Yes, I would also recommend Arise and I would put it on top of the list! It's their best album IMO though there are also a lot of fans who prefer Beneath The Remains which I can also understand. Chaos A.D. is a different story though. Personally I didn't like it that much. The band drifted away from their original Thrash sound and experimented with Industrial & Tribal sounds. But this is only how I think about it and there are many people out there who disagree on this. You might like it very much as your tastes are rather broad.

Really? Wow, this is the first time ever I hear something like it about 1916. I was immedialtely hooked when I heard I'm So Bad (Baby I Don't Care) for the first time. And all of my buddies felt the same about it. Good thing it eventually grew on you though.
As for Bastards all I can say is that I totally love this album. The best in Motörhistory so far and not a single filler on it. Too bad that it never got the due credit in Germany because you couldn't get it here for a very long time.

Very strange news to me. When you hear Lemmy talking in "Everything Louder Than Everyone Else" (live in Hamburg), prsenting 'Burner', he says that "Bastard" was only available in Germany but not in the rest of the world (at least that's what I understood). Have you heard this live album?

Yeah, actually ZYX, the label that released Bastards, was a German label... I had to pay almost 30 bucks to buy it here becasue it was an import.

Yes, I have my own copy of Everything Louder Than Everyone Else and therefore know Lemmy talking about it. But Lemmy is a Brit living in L.A. who doesn't even know (or give a damn?) about all the Motörhead compilations and best of samplers labels from all over the world put out each year.
ZYX is a shitty label which focuses on dancefloor and party charts music. They don't even have Motörhead listed on their homepage anymore. Today the German label SPV distributes the Bastards album with a bonus track (Jumping Jack Flash) and since that the album is finally available again. My copy is from SPV and thank god for it!

Ok Jason Great Player indeed but he cant hold a candle to cliff but who could really? .... as for Paul Bostaph He KILLS Lombardo I remember poping Devine Intervention in for the first time and being Pounded by his Drums from the gitgo ... Lombardo BAH! I always have thought and always will think Bostaph is better

100% agreement there - there aren't many people in Cliff's league, as a person or a musician. He did all the arrangements and shit once he joined Metallica, and his writing abilities and grasp or music theory were a HUGE loss for the band when he passed away. Just listen to "...and Justice for all"...every song on there has the same basic feel...until you get to "To Live is to Die"...completely difgferent vibe and style...and that's because the whole song is bits and pieces of Cliff's writing, and the spoken passage was scribbled on a piece of paper James found among Cliff's things after he died.

There are some musicians in Metal (and other genre's as well), who are so far above and beyond most of their peers as far as ability and knowledge of music IN GENERAL, let alone their instrument. Cliff Burton was and will always be one of those musicians.

That's my 2 cents.
