Who would have a better chance at playing PPUSA....

So, rather than dwell on those painful memories, I'd think focusing on bands who have not been given (and have blown) shots to play PPUSA, some numerous times, would be more productive.

And more fun. For all concerned.

Just my two cents.

Bill, it's very difficult for me to let posts like yours go anymore. I think you're being a little too "touchy, feely" here. These issues with these bands have been made public to everyone here, so I don't know what you're expecting. As fans, things like this are going to be discussed. No one is being out of line, so I don't see a problem.

Agreed 100%.

Hi Brian,

I'm not sure how to answer this. If I apologize for my post you'll accuse me of being "touchy, feely." :)

Seriously, all I was trying to do was ask how many times does Glenn have to say "No" to the same questions regarding the same bands? Sure, we can keep asking, "Please, please, please" but what's the point? Glenn has proved countless times that he's capable of springing terrific surprises on us when he wants to. If he wants to give Nevermore or Serenity or Volbeat another chance, he will. If he doesn't, no amount of pleas or reminders of what happened will make him.

I didn't say anyone was being out of line. I was trying to relate how I'd feel if someone kept bringing up names of those who had irritated me over the years. Glenn probably doesn't mind. I would. If that makes me "touchy, feely" or "out of line," so be it.

I loved booB's response. And longshot9's. And Matt Crook's. They took my post as lightly as I intended it, as it should have been.

Cheers,

Bill

D) Axel Rudi Pell for the win :headbang::headbang:

Look, Nevermore screwed Glenn not once, but TWICE. He would have to be a fool to even CONTEMPLATE bringing them back unless there was a cancellation clause. Volbeat not only bailed on Glenn, but lied about whether there was a deal in place. Why do you think Glenn said he would "kick their ass" when they came with Nightwish? And, as for Serenity, I speculate the problem was not necessarily Serenity, but the stinginess of Napalm Records to send them over. Serenity does not have a US deal, so Napalm would have been stuck with the travel costs. Napalm, and from what I understand is policy, will not pay trans-Atlantic fees for their bands. Soooo, Serenity had to bail as they would have been hit with about $10K in travel costs to go to Atlanta.

Lots of speculation there. Lots of people in this thread guessing at what really happened. Wait for the book, and then we'll all know the whole story.

One thing for certain, Glenn is no fool.

The top two were not speculation. Nevermore bailed out twice. The second time was to take a spot on a European Tour that was rescheduled to a few days after PP VII ended.

Volbeat was signed, then for some reason they claimed they were not confirmed. One guy was even banned from here when he accused Glenn of making an announcement before even contacting the band!

As for Serenity, when was the last time a Napalm-only band toured the states?

well shit, if its that big of a deal the thread can be deleted.

just figured it'd be a good discussion topic.

At the risk of sounding "touchy-feely," I apologize for starting a string of negative opinions in your thread, Patrick. You're right. Anything is fair game for discussion. I think I interjected too many of my own feelings into this one. Must've been listening to John Denver that day. My emo side took over. Sorry! :)

Yawn ... get your facts straight before posting more stuff like this please.

I give every one of my friends their due second chances.

I give every good band I've played a gig with an invite share the stage with my bands again, even after they have a really bad gig or did something wrong at the gig.

But if someone has truly screwed me, there's no forgiveness after that.
