Hey all, I'm writing on behalf of a band who need someone to master their CD. It's 8 tracks long, about 40 minutes of music.
Right now they're primarily looking for quotes, but that doesn't mean they'll go with the cheapest either. I honestly dunno how they plan to decide who to go with but we can work that out I'm sure.
If you can help, please do let me know. Examples of mastering work would be appreciated.

Maybe upload a sample of some song and let us master it. Then they can ask the person, whose master they liked most, for rates. If he's too expensive, they can move down the list of their preferences.

Yeah, you're right. I've contacted the band to supply me with a track to be used to judge the different masters.
In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me if you feel you're up for the job, thanks.

I'm available for the next few weeks then by late June the studio is packed. My advertised mastering rate is $8 per recorded minute, but I'm considering doing some sort of "Sneap Special."

I have no issues doing a "sample master" for you. I will warn you that I try to not be heavy handed. IMO pre-mastering is more about tonal balance, building the playlist on a error free medium, and making necessary corrections for translation. A lot of folks think it's all about making things sound better when it's not.

What kind of discount are you proposing? PM me if you'd rather talk there, thanks!

I'm still waiting for the band to supply me with a track to "sample master". I'll post it here as soon as they get up off their asses! :D

I apologise for the delay guys, but the band seem to be taking their sweet time even though I've told them to get a move on. I'll have a 24bit .wav up as soon as I get it from them!

Sorry to go off topic, but is this band Irish? Seems to me the metal scene in Ireland is really getting a hell of a lot better these days..

Yes they are. One of the guitarists is an old friend of mine and we used to play in Thoughts of Ruin together. If you like the MySpace tracks, feel free to download the Thoughts of Ruin album.

I also recommend that you check out James (actofvengence) on this forum and his band Six Feet Or Above Ground.
There's quite a lot of good Irish metal bands, but I think it's best you find them yourself! :D

If these guys don't get back to me soon with the track to master I'm gonna give up, cuz everyone here is more than willing to help.

I can do it for a relatively cheap price and I'll do an example first for free as well. PM me if you're interested.
