Why does CoB use single pickup guitars?

yeah.. its there becuse they only use one tone from the guitar so they just had them made with one bridge pickup...

not my cup of teah but its there guitars..

Roope does have some (more like 2 or 3) 2 pickup guitars...its just a single coil in the neck though, just for clean interludes and all that nice sparkly stuff when the need arises...on his Jackson Rhoads'.....I'd like to see more of his ESP stuff! or if he's just gonna get that 1 star...

That's amazing how the word "fuck" is versatile. Well I guess here it's used quite like "don't fuck with me" or "I don't give a fuck", but it looks like it can fit anywhere :p
Is there no misunderstood because of that ?
You know the "Schtroumpf" ? Or "Smurf" I think in english, the "fucks" would work too.
With the old fuck (the one who's got a beard), grumpy fuck, miss fuck, or fuckette, or whatever, farmer fuck, clever fuck and so on...
It has quite a lot of different senses in french too but it doesn't work as a verb, so the english is more versatile... Well I think nobody cares but hey...^^

less bullshit to fuck with
Well if you think about it, it quite obvious. Why put a pickup that you would never use in a guitar that you love. Say you like the Jackson J-50 BC PU with the JE-1000, and thats all you would ever use, why put anything more in. Roope has that single coil PU for crisp clear cleans tones for songs like Written In Stone. Plus in his other bands and studio work he was probably told to use a clean sound. But Alexi, he doen'st use to many clean sounds from what I've heard, so why bother putting in an extra pickup that you don't use.

Extra PU = routing +wiring +drilling+soldering +maintenence = Pain in the Ass.

I'm done now.

I think it looks better with only one PU (aside from that when you need only one PU). Anyone seen a 24 Rhaods with two Hums? Ugly IMO! One Hum and one Singlecoil (like one of Roopes has) is nice.

Btw. I searched in the internet and found this very nice RR http://www.jacksonguitar.org/gall/gall07.html
Anyone here can translate the japanese stuff, because the only thing I understand is "Children Of Bodom"? Would be cool!

Hey Thilo, cool one, that skull knob is amazing :p Id like to have one of those custom RR guitars, my Kramer is good for VH stuff and for clean tones, but for those crazy metal riffs? I defenetly need one of those Jacksons... :D

I can't understand it either. I mean, I've always thought Alexi's had a really professional, great sounding tone, but personally, I think the neck pickup is as useful as the bridge pickup. Shred sounds way better coming out of the neck pickup, but hell, Alexi's solos sounded great in concert so the one pickup guitar must work.

its just about attitude....one pickup is just, balls out...if you fuck up, everyones gonna know, so you gotta keep your chops going clean as glass to sound good...if you're on the neck, its easy to fuck up , but have it still sound good...if you're gonna rock hard, 1 pup is the way to go...but really, the neck does have its place and stuff....its just all up to you really..and one mans ugly , might be anothers beautiful princess :p so yeah..

Mwahaha ! Like in the live in seoul ! (I have adsl since a few weaks, so I just discover it now) He fucked up a short part in lake bodom at 2'00", wow, I couldn't stop laughing :tickled: and watched/listened it at least 30 times :p

It's not like when he had a hard time in KTS, this part just "doen't" seem so hard to play, but the mistakes just sounds really loud, it looks like he picked the wrong string or something like that, so it's not a half step mistake, it's a heavy mistake ! like 5 steps down :tickled:

Well, I know it's easy to laugh, but hard to do, but it's great to have such things that'll make you laugh anytime you hear/watch it (like the holy grail or puni puni poemi), it's good when you're not good ^^

Basically the bridge pickup is there for a more treble sound and the neck pickup has a more rounded bass tone - just b/c of string vibration

if he only ever uses the treble sound (which it sounds like) then he only really needs 1 pickup.

also If he's gonna want to switch his sounds a little bit for a solo he can do it with a foot pedal.

I've grown quite fond of the versatility that comes with hum-cancelling pickups though so I would never use a guitar like that.
