why you should never listen to new cd's when working on a new cd

No reason to be bumed!! You do better then most keep it up
At least you do good work and get paid i dont make shit hahahaha

You're right Joey, those are some crushing tones, both of them. But from what I've heard from you I'm pretty sure you can keep up to them :)

i hope so, im getting bummed

but i know our drums turned out fucking amazing (on the ftfd record)

there's some serious moments where i feel like throwing something because of how hard this stuff hits

If that's so Joey, then I'll be checking that cd out when it comes out, because Hollow Crown is the first CD to send me into uncontrollable like.. physical fits haha out of the sheer awesomeness and heavyness of it all, if you can get anywhere near that, it'll easily solidify you as one of my most respected producers, cos shit like that isnt easy to pull off.

well both HC and SS have been tone landmarks for me to follow.

But dare I say, you can stretch a Pod tone only so far, and those albums have major tube ownage on them (diezel, 5150, orange)

Joey, If your feeling discouraged with your guitar tones maybe now would be a good time to try and revisit using some tube heads and cabs. I know you could turn out some killer shit.

Suicide Season was.. if i remember correctly...

* Quad tracked.
* Allot of Peavey EVH mk III, well this what you hear the most.

First 2 tracks was EVH mk III thats slaved a ENGL Savage
And then for the other 2 tracks i think it was 5150 with Savage hmm?? cant remember.

Cabs:

ENGL (for the EVH) --> miced with 2 sm57 and one Peluso 2247LE
and EVH mk III Cab ---> with 2 sm57

The guys used really thick strings, think that contributed in some way in that thick tone.

Awesome !

Can you tell a bit more about the rest (drums/bass) ?

mmmmmm.... peavey!

that album sounds so fat and beefy! it is about time bmth had a decent mix i can puke listening to their second album "count your blessings" or some shit:zombie::Puke:

it sounds like they went with a lot of room mic (into a heavy limiter) but it works for that style of music which unfortunately doesn't appeal to me as much as their earlier stuff especially when I was younger but there are a few good tunes on the album that i like.

looking back on it i was dissapointed when andy sneap declined to work with them for their second album but now i am a few years older and i can see why he wouldn't want to work with those kids. but imagine count your blessings with an andy mix :OMG:
