why you should never listen to new cd's when working on a new cd

you guys really like how the new architects cd sounds that much? I like the band, but don't think the production or guitar tone are anything super special... guitar tone is actually a little weird sounding... actually the whole thing is kinda messy sounding, but I guess the vocals sound pretty good...

Fender got the Van Halen-Deal this time, so the mk III is made by EVH, a brand of Fender.
I nearly bought the mk III but then took the 6505+, which i regret a bit - because the third channel is very similiar (imho!) but the clean channel of the EVH is WAAAY better, and the second one, too :(
But i had that "Metalcore = 6505"-feeling xD

@joey: i like your guitar tone :)

I like it how it's tuned to G#, and yet sounds very full and energetic, instead of the hollowed-out djenty tone.

And the BMTH tone is just pure awesome.

Joey:pay 2000$ and you are going to make the most descent guitar tunes!!!!!!
Buy a very good 4x12 with vintage V30 speaker (like framus dragon, engl v30, marshall vintage v30...)
Buy a realy nice studio amp (engl fireball, peavey 5150, framus cobra or. dragon....)
get 2 sm 57 and a tubescreamer
Use the fredmann technic (on one speaker: one sm57 on axis the other in angle of 45° off axis)
and there your are!!!!!!!!!!!

but I know your problems very well:
I had about 10 bands in my little studio with so fucked up gear!!!I used the pod xt alot with these bands, because bad guitars sounding much better with a pod then with an real amp....

parhaps you have missed the post that describes the cabs used for recording suicide season (engl and fender evh).

On the other hand you can generate quite the fizzball of weak tone with a mesa os (darkest hour)

there is no one absolute solution, otherwise there would be no fun in this business, everyone would have the same "perfect" tone (rendering it useless and boring).

But in someone such as Joey's situation, where he's unsure of working with real mics cabs amps, blah blah, isn't it always nice to have some idea of what sort of sound you're going to get if you put x mic in y position?

I realy like the framus V30 dragon!!!!I got great results with this cab and an engl thunder+tubesreamer.
I tried one Mesa 4x12 v30. But it realy sucked!!!!! Same setting used with an 15year old marshall vintage v30 and I got blown away by the amazing sound!!!!!!
Maybe I tried the worst mesa box of all times, but It sounded like my first 4x12cab from H&K with rock driver junior speakers.....

The Mesa OS IS a great cab. No doubt about it, especially for rather extreme forms of metal... But I'm kinda getting tired of this Mesa OS = THE be all, end all solution for great heavy tones attitude to be honest.

When BMTH played newcastle they used Krank heads(i think) and some cabs that were green, couldn't make out the name. Man something, lol

but they use other amps aswell that i've seen on youtube: 6505+, 5150, Orange rockerverb

Get you a Marshall Mode 4 cab, Throw in some EV Blacklabels.

I think only that Early Grave song has the low G#... I know atleast most of the cd is just C# standard
