Will Jeff Loomis be using 7 string guitars on the new album?

Loomis is definatly one of those guys that makes the 7 string guitar sound good, maybe its from years of being so good at 6 string. I honestly found The sound on Dead Heart more enjoyable than on their previous releases, even though all the other ones were more technical and progressive.

Dead Heart Guitar Tone = Kiss my fucking ass

Pathetic.

Heaviness isn't how thick or low your strings are tuned. One of the heaviest albums ever is Metallica's ...And justice for all, and that's played in standard E tuning on a six string guitar.

Your minds are conditioned to beleive this false statement about "7 strings = heavy". It is infact, only true that 7 strings equal low tuning, hence more bass in the mix, and an overall muddy sound (In the case of Dead Heart, the mix is so squashed that it isn't muddy, but in fact the opposite, boomy).

That does not equate to "Heavy".

The heaviest Nevermore? The start of Optimist or Pessimist, or the 5/8 section of 42147, now THEY are fucking heavy riffs.

yes i agree taht was kind of a dumb statement about hte heaviness, but i love that B string. and the B string has gotten a bum rap becuase of numetal wich is unfair to those that use it properly. its just uncool for 'real' metalers to use it. example: i read an interview or somthin where chuck dissed seven strings. he said somthing like 'yeh 7 strings suck they just want those extra few low notes' well excuse me chuck, but you downtune to D to get those extra few low notes dont ya? i mean i LOVE chuck but come on. thats just an assinine statement.

Morbid Angel anyone? I love morbid angel, and they've used seven strings longer than they used six... so... *shrug* Kindof a stupid statement to make, unfounded even.

I'm a guitarist, so that's probably why i can't stand Dead Heart. They went from cool guitarlines on Dreaming Neon Black, with lots of dark, acoustic sections, and then suddenly they downtuned to buggery, the first song starts of nu-metal, there is a pile of happy power-metal acoustic ballads, and the production takes it up the ass more than iced earth's horror show! Go figure!

:dojig:

:jump off building:

:oww:

what about at the gates, arch enemy, carcass and soilwork to name a few more? i was just saying that i see a lot of shit talked about the ole B string. dead heart is inferior becuase of what he did WITH the B. not because OF it.

Exactly!

That's why i mentioned Morbid Angel, they have seven strings, and they use them to their full potential, and it's great. :) I haven't got anything against 7 strings, only the way they were used in Dead Heart.
