Win 7, Reaper 64 Bit....GUI issues + writing FX

Ok, so I'm trying to create a tape stop effect with a free Tape Stop VST. Any plugins I download always pop open their own little GUI, in which I can't easily just play the section of song and tweak settings properly without it being a hassle. For example, I have to click out of the GUI, then hit play in Reaper, the quickly click back to "Show UI" and it's just a pain in the rear. I cannot simply just write the effect to the track then tweak later, obviously....

Any work arounds or solutions?

The window in which the plugin opens is a wrapper for 32 bit plugins. I think the only workaround is run 32 bit Reaper. You can Install both and just use the 32 bit version for working around things like this.

you can pin up the VST GUI window (top right corner), so it stays on top of the screen, doesn't matter where you click.
