I don't know who it was that mentioned this band, but I would like to say thank you, they are awesome.

Yep, WT definately rules!! Sharon's voice gives me the goose bumps (and her body a boner but yeah...) Dou you know Orphanage? They're cool too (except the last album, kinda strange if you asked me, but you probably aren't)

Enter is excellent !
i consider it as the best CD of the genre ...

i don't like very much Mother Earth ... the growler misses me, even if my favorite track is Restless (which is sang only by Sharon)

Sharon is not nearly as good as Tarja from Nightwish, but I don't know if you can really compare the two.

you can't compare the two of them...
Tarja is an Opera singer...
While Sharon just sings with the
good voice she has >:oP hehe...
Well, I feel Sharon's voice is really
unique, that's why I like it so much...
I've loved this band since the first
time I heard them :o)
"Mother Earth" was a bit disappointing,
but hell, "Enter" and "The Dance" are
two albums I will never forget! :o)

I wish Sharon would sing in her range. She misses a lot of those high notes. But I still like them.

That's just Sharon's style...
it's what makes her so special...
I used to be annoyed by that too,
but got used to it, and now sort of love it >:oP
I'm brainwashed >:o)

without any hesitation Restless and Enter

Pearls of Light, Deep Within, the Dance, the other half, Ice Queen and Mother Earth are really good too !

i just got the new one, mother earth, and i'm intrigued. it's a bit different from their others. almost like metal meets new age. and some of the lyrics are awesome. but i still wince at some of those high notes...i love the range she sings in on "in perfect harmony." but that song isn't as powerful musically as the others. i've never heard "the dance" -- i only have "enter." but this is quite a mature album...sounds more full and complete, better production, etc. there's my two cents.

i also ordered after forever, but fucking century media says it's backordered. argh. :bah:

Yeah. It took seven months for me to get After Forever's Prison of Desire from Amazon.com

how is it? i've had "follow in the cry" on my computer for the longest time, and i ignored it once i heard the operatic vocals. but then about a month ago, i listened to it and loved it. funny how that happens. i usually don't like the opera stuff, but god damn, that broad can sing. she hits those notes right on! so even though i think that song is kinda cheesy, it's the kind of stuff i'm in the mood for sometimes. so i'll probably keep trying to order it. but i'm curious for a preview. so what do you think?

Yeah, as Soul4.... said at the top, thanks to whoever brought it up! Got Mother Earth on friday (with bonus CD-Rom! The Dynamo '99 performance really kicks! Good to see Sharon is metal enough to headbang (and more than the guitarists  ), I've seen a few female fronted bands where they don't), liked it so much, went out on Monday and got Enter.

Would like the guitars to be higher in the mix (and more involved) on Mother Earth, but it's a solid album, the songs are really good.

And I like that Sharon has a bit of trouble with the high stuff- proves that she really is singing it. If it was the Spice Girls :Barf: they would have sung it lower and used a pitch bender to bring it up. I don't mind the occassional mistake or awkward moment in my metal, just proves it's real. And Sharon's belting the songs out with such force, it sounds like it's coming from the heart, so I can't fault her if that's where the song takes her.

Mother Earth is excellent.

I probably like it so much because Sharon's voice actually sounds a lot like Gwyneth Paltrow's voice (yes the movie star). Though Paltrow's singing is probably more competent, though Sharon's voice has its distinct charms too.

So everytime I listen to Sharon sing I am thinking of Gwyneth. :) Is it just me?

my two cents.

Where can I hear Gwyneth's singing?? Her voice is so sexy, I'd surely like to hear her sing!!

And yes, Within Temptation rules. "Mother Earth" is my favorite, but I like "Enter" as well.

She sang for the Movie Duets that she starred in not too long ago.

She sings "Cruisin" with Huey Lewis, which is mellow and nice, if you're into that kind of thing in the first place. (an adult comtemporary pop song)

Her singing is especially reminiscent of Sharon's in her rendition of "Betty Davis eyes" (post edit correction) There's something slightly fuller about Paltrow's singing which is why in the end I think her voice is more competent than Sharon's.

I dled the mp3's from the soundtrack via winmx.

Thanks! Trying to download it from audiogalaxy right now..

I just LOVE the female voice, so this is a must for me to hear. :)

You are correct, she can sing. My personal favorite track is "Laden Legacy" it has some awesome chants and growling vocals. "Ephemeral" really shows the womans singing prowess. All in all it is a great album. The only aspect I dislike is the guitar is lacking, but it doesn't really hurt the album that much.
