After a magical five album run the new Wolf album is a huge let down!! What has happened guys? Where are the vocal melodies? After three plays I can barely recall a single song that really excites me. The production is there, the riffing is decent at times but lacks inspiration completely. Where are the Maiden and Mercyful Fate influences that made previous albums so catchy and cool? Look I'm not saying the album is bad or terrible cause it isn't but it doesn't really have one single song that really spread that evil metal grin across my face. Just average and it's a damn shame.

This saddens me greatly. I'll still give it a try and listen to some stuff online before deciding to purchase or not, but you guys have me scared.

Bummer. At least we have the new Twisted Tower Dire album to console us. This is the album Wolf should be kicking themselves for not making.

Seriously guys, what the hell is wrong with the new Wolf? This is not a departure from their last few albums, this is well done traditional heavy metal, like I expected. Is it a killer album? Time will tell with more listens, but so far it's damn fine stuff, as usual with them.

It's not a departure Guilaume, but the songs go in one ear and out the other IMO. Very disappointing indeed. Like i said the album is not THAT bad but personally I need way way more hooks.

Swedish metallers WOLF recently teamed up with MorningStar films to shoot a video for the song 'Skull Crusher'. The track is taken from the new album, Legions Of Bastards. This is the second time Wolf and Morning Star films have worked together, the previous being the clip for 'Hail Ceasar' from the band's previous album. Niklas Stålvind (vocals and guitars) comments: We have never had so much fun making a video as we had on this one. Smashing a car into smithereens is something we always wanted to do without cleaning up after us or get in trouble with the police. It was the best exercise/therapy you could ever wish for. I felt like I was 10 kilos lighter in both body and spirit afterwards. We had to work hard to demolish it good. A Volvo is made in Sweden and hard to tear apart - just like this Heavy Metal band. This one is for all the skull crushing metal heads out there - We salute you!
After nine years and three albums, Wolf and guitarist Johannes Axeman Losbäck recently parted ways. Axeman will be replaced by Simon Johansson, who released his first album in 1995 with ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA and is nowadays playing with Mike Wead from KING DIAMOND in BIBLEBLACK and a member of the underrated Swedish doom pearl MEMORY GARDEN since 1996. Simon already helped out Wolf in 2009 when they supported W.A.S.P. for four shows.

I have to agree here. To me it sounds like a pretty reasonable progression from their previous stuff. As with all of their albums, they've changed things up a little from the preceding disc, but it's not a major departure by any means. It's a solid slab of classic / power metal IMO.

Picked this up at Progpower and I honestly don't get what some of you are saying about it. It's an awesome album, probably one of their heaviest and is solid throughout. The only thing I would say bad about it is it may have one or two songs too many. "Full Moon Possession" and "Nocturnal Rites" I think would be my faves off the album.

I picked it up too (thanks Century Media), and was pleasantly surprised. It's not at the same level as Evil Star or the Black Flame, but it's still a totally solid metal album.

May have a few more cliches in it than most of their albums, but it's still good. Sometimes expectations for a bands upcoming album's direction, moods, etc. effect how we hear an album. But I think it's definitely solid. Not their greatest but still very strong.
