Mike Patton is more than just Faith No More, but yeah, I see what you're sayin'....
Go get Mr.Bungle Cds RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting them right now... better be worth it.

I fucking hate wolfmother and faith no more.
faith no more is one of the very few bands that is on the list "Bands I hate more than Godsmack"

But Faith No More was actually experimental with modern rock leanings and a great sense of melody. Album of the Year, Angel Dust, King for a Day... are all absolutely brilliant albums. Epic is a pretty horrid song, though.

Edit: As a side note, Faith No More is a terrible example to use for Mike Patton. Great band and his vocals are definitely top notch in their songs, but in terms of song writing, Patton didn't have that much influence.

I think Epic is great, really, but it's a shame that song turned off loads of people to them, when that song is not representative of them at all!.. but then again, not really any of their songs are representative....

Also, Patton's vocals really improved after The Real Thing, he wasn't nearly as nasally after that release, which I know is another reason a lot of people say "patton sucks" after hearing Epic

Yep. I've seen that a lot. One of my friends didn't like Faith No More and thought Patton was terrible because of his voice on Epic, and I was like, "Mother fucker, stop being a moron and listen to Angel Dust." He did and now he likes Faith No More. Ta da.

Yknow what? I bought the Wolfmother CD a while ago.

There are some great Sabbathy riffs on that disc. Its far from bad. And they're a 3 piece and jam, and are good at it. They're not pushing any envelopes, but they're certainly not trying to.

Mike's just jealous that his modern madness isn't selling. Stravinsky made people puke, Patton.

No, you misunderstand! I agree, Stravinsky was responsible for some of the most important music ever composed! But Patton's taste for choppy weirdness is like Stravinsky creating music for todays populace...

Very few people actually liked Stravinsky's music at the time, but he didn't make his music for those people. Patton being disgusted by people liking Wolfmother is implying that he has a disdain for people's taste, and think that they should be listening to his music.

Nah. I just think Patton has a HUUUUUGGEEE ego.

now get the self titled! its even weirder, although the initial shock probably wont be as much. California is the easiest one to get into. everyone loves California, but the cool kids love em all!

Checked out Mr Bungle's Disco Volante...

That was the weirdest hour of my life.

That's the worst choice for your first listen. :p Definitely the most Avant-Garde of Mr. Bungle's albums, and it took me over nine repeated listens to really appreciate it. California and the S/T are both quirky, but they are definitely far more instant than anything off of Disco Volante.

i dunno, if you dont listen to other types of shit the s/t is pretty bizarre. i guess disco volante has some pretty fucked up parts too.......i <3 u Mr Bungle
