Ever seen that Family Guy episode, when Chris starts talking street and then watched a rap band sing about a hang nail (I was brought up on the streets/No moms and dads/I had to fend for myself/With my own two hands/But today I'm hurtin' and I'll tell you why/I've got a hangnail/Hangin' from my cuticle/A hangnail/It aint' beautiful/It hurts like a bitch that I did last night etc.)? Well imagine that, mixed with metallic guitars, and that’s pretty much what you have here. Wolfpac is fronted by Daddy Long Legs, an original member of the Bloodhound Gang, and play rapcore, clearly residing on the rap side of the fence. Now, I’m not the kind of metal fan who automatically discriminates against anything rap orientated – Grandmaster Flash rocks my socks, as does most late 80’s/early 90’s hip-hop, and ICP crack me up every time – but to me the rap on this seems pretty sub-par. No memorable backing tracks, completely forgettable lyrics and vocals, and nothing else seemingly going for it.

I always search for some kind of redeeming factor when reviewing stuff, but based on the fact that my housemate just ran out of my room after one-and-a-half songs screaming “I can’t take it anymore”, that could be slightly tricky. Uuum, yeah, some of the samples were pretty cool, and the slower tracks are listenable (see:’All These Bitches’).So, props to Wolfpac for doing something kind of original – I’ve rarely come across rapcore with such an emphasis on the rap element of the sound – but to me, this is a miss. Some rap fans may disagree, but for metal fans this is one to pass by.
