I remember that! Btw, when Maiden toured on the Give me Ed tour, Bruce Dickinson had a little to say in promoting the distribution of their new music. At the time, their newest song, "Wildest Dreams", was only being played live and so he urged that all the bootleggers in the audience record it and share it as much as possible, just so others who couldn't make it to the show get a chance to hear some of the new stuff.
Now granted, it's not the best Maiden song, but it's the thought that counts. I think on one occasion, he was even quoted as saying, "we're not Metallica". \m/

Yes, he says something nearly identical in every show on the tour...Erik said:Stockholm show...
"Don't you know it's very naughty to download things? Metallica doesn't like it!"
*very loud cheer from audience*
He also went on with the whole bit about how he encouraged people to bootleg "Wildest Dreams" and share it, but also to buy the album later ("I think it's a good album") and also to take as many photos as they liked -- cameras were forbidden by the arrangers... Bruce has also been spitting a lot of venom onto commercial radio and commercial magazines -- in a recent concert my sister went to he ripped apart an issue of Kerrang! on stage, etc... I kind of like his attitude.
I have that rant as my signature on Final Fantasy OnlineJayKeeley said:I remember that! That's extremely funny you would mention that because I just thought today that I should; I lent the album to Sorath today. I'm trying to get him to like IM and BD more through peer pressure, because in the immortal words of Bröderna Hårdrock, "if you don't like Iron Maiden you're a fucking wimp."JayKeeley said:He's the best gosh darnit!
Erik - do a review for Chemical Wedding. Tell the world just how magnificent this album really is.
Yeah, I did, on the "Give me Ed" tour. I actually have most of it on tape, because it was aired on national radio with great quality. Do you have that one?markgugs said:Yes, he says something nearly identical in every show on the tour...
But, regardless, I didn't know you traveled down to Stockholm for the show Erik. Would you like a copy of it?
You know that would rule immensely. \m/Erik said:That's extremely funny you would mention that because I just thought today that I should;
He's lucky to have a friend in you. But be careful - one day student may try to become teacher, and then you will have to destroy him, take a picture, and use it on the front cover of a Nasheim / Lethal split.I lent the album to Sorath today. I don't, but only because I have a glut of Maiden boots right now. I'm much more interested in the Dance of Death tour (better setlist ). So you're saying you DIDN'T go see that?! For shame.Erik said:Yeah, I did, on the "Give me Ed" tour. I actually have most of it on tape, because it was aired on national radio with great quality. Do you have that one?
The DoD tour was WICKED and all kidding aside, much, much better than the "greatest hits" tour I saw this past summer.Erik said:Didn't, no, (IM concerts are expensive, it's a fuxxing long way to Stockholm, etc) I thought that had a much worse setlist as well, though some of the DoD stuff would be nice to see live. Anyhoo, on an unrelated note I thought I'd ask you if you have the Testament @ Wacken 2003 bootleg?
Heh, I have about 15 boots with Revelations, so it's ok. Including a killer DVD from Dortmund, Germany, 1983 with Maiden, Priest and The Scorpions all played 8-9 songs. Very nice. I'll try to work out the acquisition of the Testament show in the near future...maybe I can get lucky and find the taper, so I can get a copy direct from him.Erik said:Probably, yes. Anyway, the Testament show would be a nice souvenir thing to have regardless of the quality.
And the DoD show might have been better, but did it have "Revelations?" Thought not.
