Hey y'all. I was in the mood for creating something a bit more elaborate, musicwise. I wrote this a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't had the guts to really ask someone for opinions since I was fairly uncertain of whether it's good enough or just too different compared to my previous work. A lot of people on here know in which direction bands are moving with their music these days and probably won't flame me for not playing two-step death metal/metalcore anymore.

Please tell me what you think!

I'll start of with saying that that tom fill is absolutely terrible haha. Needs to be a lot more interesting in my opinion if it absolutely has to be there. Maybe try the snare for those first hits?
Have you tried removing that little pause around 1:16-1.17? At the moment that part feels like: verse -> bridge -> bridge -> Chorus. That rest makes the upcoming riff sounding a little out of place.
At 2:24 the rhythm guitars are far too loud. I don't think they are the primary instrument in that section, so turn em down. I'd also consider adding a few more ambient guitars for extra ambience.

Mixwise I'd add slightly more gain to the guitars and worked on adding a little more depth to the mix.

The song has some cool parts but it's hard to follow the red thread throughout the song.

haha, thought the tom fill was epic! the result of me going nuts playing the drums on my midi keyboard. got a really nice production idea for it though, this sort of chaos feel with sampled background voices and guitar feedback and stuff.
WIP i guess would be the acronym of choice here. got loads to write and production elements to be added etc.
guess another thing i strive for is to write everything completely without rules or musical/lyrical boundaries (apart from proper language, grammar and such). i think that will really show when the vocals are added later on. haven't got a preamp atm, not even a DI box, so everything is just line level and digitally boosted gain. every no no in the book, haha.
really appreciate the input though, "cool parts" was mainly what i wanted to hear since it isn't anything but scattered parts atm. gonna work hard on tiing it together. just wanted to hear something remotely positive so i don't abandon this project too, haha.
