worst of '07

Megadeth - United Abominations - While this may not be technically the worst album I've heard this year it was probably the biggest disappointment. I heard that it was so great from quite a few people & I thought it was shitty. 1, maybe 2 decent songs on it.

Symphony X - Paradise Lost
Obituary - Xecutioner's Return
Dimmu Borgir - In Sorte Diaboli

Nile - Ithyphallic
- I didn't like this album much, but it's acceptable by Nile's standards, so it wasn't really a disappointment in that sense :p

I agree with the Dimmu CD, but I really liked the Megadeth and Symphony X releases.

Another dissappointment is Iced Earth - Framing Armageddon.

That single, Subterfuge, is pretty catchy, but yeah the album is pretty shitty. The band is pretty shitty.

I felt that way about the first single on the Dimmu album, but all the other songs pretty much blow.

I was expecting more from SX, but I can't even listen to that album. I bought that one the day it came out & never got what the rave was about it.

Abscess - Horrorhammer
Be Persecuted - I.I
Dark Tranquillity – Fiction
Disbelief – Navigator
Ensiferum - Victory Songs
Onslaught - Killing Peace

Darkthrone's FOAD inches closer to this list every time I listen to it.

vital remains? wow, that made my top 10! and i really want to hear that new symphony x. why was it bad?

Note to posters in this thread: acting butthurt because someone badmouthed your favorite band will result in me deleting your posts. You've been warned. DISCUSS, don't complain. Not posting stupid things is always better than posting them.

As for mine:

Moonsorrow - V: Hävitetty (way too drawn-out, I'd like to hear them return to their Suden Uni style sound)
Jesu - Conqueror (big, big step down IMO...no longer evokes depressed or even joyful feelings, felt really stagnant and lame to me)
Nox - Ixaxaar (the world does not need more Satanic death metal, not even from a Centurian ripoff...I mean "sideproject")
Corpulate - Boundless Expansion (sorry, "chaotic tech deathgrind" just isn't interesting once you've heard Malignancy)
Cirith Gorgor - Cirith Gorgor (I expect much more from the band who created what I feel to be one of the best BM songs ever with "Winter Embraces Lands Beyond")
Plasma - Creeping! Crushing! Crawling! (Gut already exists, and the world doesn't need more ripoffs...not even if they have watery vocals)
Hanging Garden - Inherit The Eden (monotonous and boring death/gothic doom)
IXXI - IXXI (gimmick-y, overblown, and bordering on self-parody)
Darkthrone - F.O.A.D. (I just dislike this, sorry)
High On Fire - Death Is This Communion (stopped being interesting after the first album, IMO)
Goreality - Perverse Depraved Indifference (slam is not hard to do, why must bands fail at something so simplistic?!)
Detonation - Emission Phase (a letdown compared to the previous album...gorgeous artwork and good concept though)

i could name a few bands that released some shitty/mediocre albums but.. i don't really care about those bands anymore.
so its not really disappointing to me.

but if i had to name something..

Drudkh - Estrangement: (my only complaint is the drum sound and it being so short)

Profanatica - Profanatitas De Domonatia: (as much as i like this release the second half of this album sort of blows, it felt more like filler)

It was a huge step backwards. The song writing was very weak for the most part & it seems like something was lost in the production. Russell changed his voice in a bad way & purposely sings raspy all throughout the album. I can't stand what he did to his voice. Also the solos are all really predictable & weak for the most part. They also tried to get a little more rocky & not so neo-classical, which is a downfall for a band like that.

V5, he asked & I just answered his question for him.

Anedonia - Anedonia - a weak EP from a band with potential to do better.

Mayhem - Ordo Ad Chao - lack of focus and horrible production.

Blut Aus Nord - Odinist - same drum beat throughout almost every song, set to samey riffs which sound like they came from the "rejected riffs" pile from the TWWTG sessions.

As for mine:

Nox - Ixaxaar (the world does not need more Satanic death metal, not even from a Choronzon ripoff...I mean "sideproject")

I must say I really like that album. C'mon it is a good debut, I am definitly looking forward to their next one. What is wrong with that album BTW 5xV?

For me Icons Of Evil by Vital Remains was very meh. I mean for couple of listens it is good but damn, there are like 3 riffs in each 7 min song. The only song I did like from there was "Hammer Down The Nails".
