I need to puchase some stands (7-8 mics) for drums. In the past, I'd borrow or rely on the jamspots to have them. Buying new seems like too much. Are they any decently priced packs, or used ones I can be led to?

thanks for your time

The on stage stands aren't bad at all. I have used em quite a bit for 8 or so months now, but never in live situations, only recording. I have used them for overhealds just fine, but you have to make sure you balance it right. lol

ah, want to buy. makes sense haha.

For the OH mics, close26, I figure I should prob put some weight on the bottom of the stands. Nothing worse than the leaning tower of mics crashing down on the drummer haha.

I have both the Onstage type and the typical cast base type, too. I prefer the cast base type for OH's, and you can usually find them pretty cheap new around here.

If you want a bit more weight at the base for miking OH's, just buy a couple 2-5lb freeweight weights. You can slide them down the shaft of the stand and they sit right above the legs, providing more heft. I do this and it works great. I bought some of my freeweights at a rummage sale for 50 cents a piece. The others I was given from old weight sets my friends no longer use.

My On Stage boom stand, guitar stand, and amp stand have all always served me well; I've got a lot of faith in the company!
